Gary, if you are looking at the item Max has indicated, then don't waste your money. You will note in the vendor's description, he states; "I have been a DJ for over 50 years..." I imagine he's had those speakers for most if not all of that time!

Seriously, the starting price is excessive, I doubt if it were sold as separates, it would fetch more than £200

Not wanting to turn this into another "money thread", however the "easily earn anything up to £400 with this gear" claim appears wildly exagerrated. Battererd old speaker cabs with missing grilles and 1970s ropelights are a million miles away from what people spending good money on weddings want/expect/deserve.

Hi Corabar, im not too computer literate. The url thing is confusing to say the least. Is there an idiots guide to url or a step by step way to put items/pics on here?

Most forums of this nature run off PHP Code. There are some simple commands :

http address of image < this will make the image viewable, so it is actually here

[ URL= http address ] click here [/URL] < this will make the "click here" bit an interactive link

[B][U] etc with the /b or /u < these bold, underlined text etc


Make sure there are no spaces in the bracketed part of the code, I have left spaces to avoid the links from parsing.

When people speak about URLs, they are just talking about the web address. Copy and paste it from the address bar at the top of your page - eg http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk

To add an image: There are various ways to do this and different people find their favourite way. This is my suggested option for you: Next time you are making a post on the forum, look down below the box you are typing your reply in and you will see another section headed "Additional Options". In there, you will see a button saying "Manage Attachments". A pop-up box will appear. The bottom two-thirds of that box show the maximum file sizes for images, but at the top, you can click "Browse", find the file on your computer, then "Upload". Once it's uploaded, you can close that window and when you post your message, the image will appear in it.

You can click the paperclip instead of "Manage Attachments" - yes, but don't give the impression that clicking the paperclip covers everything I said!

I explained that there were several ways to do it, but I chose to give just 1 way so that Gary can go and try it out for himself, rather than giving him all the options and confusing the issue. Gary can find his way around work out all the different options available over time. :mad:

for the help. Im constantly learning.
Im trying to work out what i need for a decent childrens set up but when i look through for the relevant threads, its all gobbledegook.

I dont know the first thing about sound systems so its an incredible learning curve for me. Sorry but i will seem daft at times ( apologising ahead for the embarrassing questions im bound to ask )

Im really keen to be a childrens dj and Mandy will entertain (she will need a radio mike) so idiot language please, i wont be offended.

Well, me and techie stuff aren't on intimate terms either ;) , but trust me, there's no such thing as a stupid question on here - everyone's got to start somewhere, and most people agree the only stupid thing you can do is not to ask if you don't know.

I often go out on the floor with the kids at children's parties, so that's one thing I can give you a bit of advice on: get a head-set for Mandy so that she has her hands free.

If so, I would start a thread in the Childrens Entertainers forum, explaining what you aim to do, how much you are hoping to spend etc.

Hi, im thinking about setting up a childrens disco business and ive joined this site to learn all i can. I need to be aware of the legalities, the equipment, safety/environment, party games, pricing, and how to generally be a childrens DJ.

I would like to play music for small children up to 12 years of age.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated as im a complete novice.
My partner does balloon twisting and decor, plus temporary tattoos. (She will be helping me with the party games)

Together we were hoping to sell ourselves as a 'party package'

Any member from norfolk who is doing the same thing, please let me know your catchment area. I dont want to tread on anyones toes and would rather work with, than against other djs
