Hi people,
Had a good/bad night last night. I was covering for a member of our City forum who had double booked and needed someone to help. As I was hungover I went 1 and half hour early to set up as I was pretty slow and when I turned up there were 2 young lads maybe about 15 that helped carry equipment in (only what I said they be ok to carry haha). I wasn't impressed that where I was told to set up there were no room to setup properly and had to set up on a snooker table and the only plug sockets were at the other end of the dancefloor.

I got my sound all set up and so started my lighting. I plugged it all in the suddenly my iMove S5 popped and the light went off, Ive never had a bulb go but Im guessing/hoping thats all it is. So I unplugged it and just moved it out of the way behind me.

The party started at 7:30 and they just wanted quiet music while people turned up. I wasnt doing karaoke but I had my screen set up to show music videos and text saying how to text a request then my number and all night I had text requests coming in which made it alot easier.

All night everyone kept buying me drinks aswell which saved me cash. At the end they gave me an extra £20 and said they would recommend me :)

The best bit had to be at one point the dancefloor was empty so I announced "Were going to play a little game, the next song I play I want everyone on the dancefloor boys on 1 side and girls on the other. Whoever does it best gets a drink from me". No guys came but we managed to get 2 lines of lasses, when it finished I announced "Well I think the best side has to be the one closest to the bar..................... So thats a pint of water for each one of them". Then everyone laughed out loud and stayed on the dancefloor all night.

When it came to cake time I was amazed when they came round the corner with 2 what looking like fireworks in hahaha. Filled the room with smoke and it absolutly stunk.

No its a golf club, it had a large seating area but the dancefloor was about the size of a livingroom and had a snooker table at 1 end. I mentioned a different corner would be better and the manager said no you have to set up there. Made it look very untidy using the snooker table though.

Was still a good night though
