Front mount antenna conversion

I'm after mounting my twin wireless mics in my flightcase but have come across the problem of the antennas being mounted on the back and not being able to use them correctly.

I'm after something like those shown in the pic to give you an idea of what I'm on about.

Have thumbed through the cpc catalogue but can't find anything suitable.

Paul, I'd have expected CPC to have it, it's the first place I'd have looked. Sometimes searching their site successfully can be tricky. ( for tricky read downright impossible )

You never asked for cheap. If you want cheap, Maplins, and the saw blades I recommended for Deltic. ( Actually, that's probably quite a sensible suggestion. )

Upon investigating a little further I reckon I could do it myself with 4 x BNC plugs (now I know what they're called :D ) and some High Quality coax.....

That's the problem with CPC there was VAT (no problem with that) and a £5.08 "handling" charge to add!

So at the moment I've not ordered them.

Why do you want them on the front? My rack mounted Senny 135 has the antenna on the rear within the flight box.

No problems yet after 3 years being used with a vocal artist. They should not need to be on the front.

Depends on the depth of the flight case, surely?

If the flight case is deeper than the unit, then having antenna on the back wouldn't be much use :D

when i did my senny had to use 50 ohm coax

I tried to do this as well, but you have to be careful as there are two types of BNC connectors - 50ohm and 75ohm and they don't work together. I managed to order the wrong type and could never find the right one anywhere :(

The sennheiser mounting kit has terminals to put aerials on the front.

Nope not mounted on the flight case, just on the rear of the receiver unit as god intended them to be. No need to spend £40 on the senny extension kit to put them on the front of the rack.

Yep sounds like we are the same there buddy. Its and expensive hobby the senny extension kit. Plus I have side by side receivers (Have a spare G1 receiver in next to the G2 in case of problems - The G2 transmitter works on it and its also their incase I can eventually get an SKP100).

Anyway the unit will work fine just standard mounted with the aerials on the back of the receiver. Save your cash.

On some of the systems, the antennas bend up and down and are usually mounted in the centre of the 1U receiver enclosure, so depth of the flight case shouldnt be a problem in such instance.

Paul didnt say what wireless microphone system he used, but the image shown in the OP was of a warrior / w audio system.

I clearly have. What do you mean. Having the antenna within the flight case is not an issue.

I run mine that way and know guys doing shows with banks of eight Senny's who have the antenna on the back in the flight case.
