Help needed

At Saturday nights gig i turned on everything American dj dp2 American audio q record mixer rcf 310a and carlsbro gamma sub.
When i put up the line fader for channel 1 or 2 i was getting a buzzing / humming sound from the speakers.
There was no buzzing when i ran music through the Sdj1 or media monkey
Unplugged laptop power supply and that was not the problem.
Anyone know what the problem could of been

Can you explain roughly how you wire your rig up?

(Eg : DP2 > Mixer > amp)

Sounds to me like there's a grounding problem.
You could try lifting the ground on the amp but this is not recommended to someone who has little or no experience of how to do it.
Or
If you have effects on your mixer, it could be that the effects board is playing up.
Try turning it off and then having a listen to the output.

back to basics try mixer on its own with nothing connected just speakers
make sure xlr signal leads are ok
if you stuck shaun give me a bell tomorrow.

I'm confused, cos you said Media Monkey worked OK. Does this mean you were using a DJ program, and that had hum? Was this programme running through an external soundcard, and MM wasn't? :confused:


Or were the problems only on two mixer channels?

If Media monkey worked okay, then the problem must boil down to the Mixer or another piece of external hardware.

I did a wedding this time last year and i had the same problem. It turned out it was the venues electricity supply.

I had a buzz through my speakers as well. I tested my speakers at home and i didnt get the same problem. It might be your mixer. But give it a try and see what happens.
