Love him or loathe him.

His like will never be seen again.

One thing no-one can ever take away from him was.

WOW! THE BOY COULD PLAY

Sad loss.....and yes I do believe he could play. :)

Still see him now waving his family down and crying when he won the title.

He was what every sport and profession needs. A character. Sad loss.

Same here it is a sad loss for sport in general... I unfortuanately was too young to see him play (I was only 1 year old) when he won the World title in '82 (not even born when he won it 10 years earlier) but I have seen all the clips of him playing since though being avid snooker fan and player myself (in my spare time) and what a character and player... sad loss.

Agreed, but I can't help wondering how much longer he'd have lasted without the booze or fags.

Saw him sitting with his entourage at Wembley in the 80s (Benson & Hedges Masters) - wouldn't say he was a happy bunny, more nervous fidgety and edgy.

One of his fellow players called him "Snooker's McEnroe".

He certainly livened up the image of the game when he exploded onto the scene.
