Hi all
Not often I do a gig report.
Was on my own (well with a roadie mate, but no Kev as he is on holiday) so it was an odd experience to start with.
We were at a venue I have been at a lot in the past and its tight so reduced kit and trailer left at home. Running off an old Macgregor amp and the 12" RW2's (which did a stirling job really nice sound).
Anyway I had spoken to the bride couple of weeks ago and she was quite specific she wanted a packed dance floor all night (no pressure hey) and gave me a couple of song choices, but wasn't too worried about making a playlist.
Long story short after buffet it was time to get going and it was every other song I had someone from the bridal party saying are you not playing this that will get them up or do this that will get them up (Bear in mind they were all completely different genre's and era's). It was going bad to say the least.
Managed to catch my dance floor and decided to trust my instinct and ability and stack requests as I usually do to fit where appropriate or get forgotten.
Bingo back on track and two hours of jam packed dance floor. One of her auntie's borrowed my mic at the end and said some really kind things about how good we were and I got big applause to big blushes:o .
Got chatting to an American relative who was impressed how I had managed to bring so many cultures together seamlessly and just appeared to have a sxith sense.
I was just so relieved and it was a lonely place when it was not quite getting there. Happy bunny now though. I just don't seem to ever believe I can do this - even after 13 years. Maybe its the fear that keeps me sharp.
Thanks for reading.
