Well, last nights venue is usually a bit of a pain in the backside because they have a very low set sound limiter.
Anyway, tast time i was there, they had move the limiter/microphone onto a more solid wall, and put polystyrene behind it, which worked wonders. last night im playing away, and using my ears to monitor the volume, and the limiter aint even registering green...so i push it up a but more...and abit more...and abit more...and abit more, and still only manage to just get it to the third green light when the manager comes over.
"can you turn it down a bit Steve"...me; "Yeah, whats the crack with the sound limiter, it doesnt seem to be working properly". His reply...
"Oh yes ive been playing around with it, but think ive overdone it. Can you turn it down to what the level would be like if it was working normally".
Now in the past when people have asked for the music to be turned up i could point to the sound limiter in the yellow, and explain that i couldnt because it would cut the power.
With the manager playing around with it...and still wanting the same volume level...i didnt have that luxury/excuse...which made for a few unhappy guests.
