View Full Version : Silly search phrases...

If, like me, you keep an eye on your web stats and check to see what search phrases people are using to end up on your site, I'm sure you've found a few odd ones along the way (usually not 'real' traffic - ie potential customers - just 'odd' searches from people who end up briefly on your site).
I've just had such a visitor (from the US) who searched on Yahoo:-
"i own my own pa system ,cd etc can i play them in public and not get paid for it"
Really succinct and to the point! What's their next search? The entire text of War & Peace?!?!?! ...and I can't help wondering what on earth he/she's doing!
Anyone else had any doozies?

Having done a quick check on the last couple of years webstats, the most unusual search terms which included my own website in the results were:
1) Why should we book you?
2) Copyright 2005 2010
3) For more information
4) qq
5) We are not having any flooring in our marquee will it cause a problem
6) How much power for a disco 350 people
7) How much do I charge to cater

1.) Pink Butterfly Cake Decorations
2.) Pastel Pink Wedding Decorations
My 'Normal' Website:
1.) Illegal Music Mobile Disco (...Slightly worried that pointed to my site!!)
2.) Clinical Presentation of SJS (...WTF? lol :D )
3.) Performing Rights For Mobile Discos
4.) Who Are ProDub? (...Sometimes I wish I thought the same! :D )

I think I can hazard a fairly educated guesss at that one. They want to provide the music for a wedding/barmitzvah/barn raising, and they're worried it's illegal. Hence the " not get paid " .
As to the way you lot can tell who's been looking at your site, and what they asked to find you, well some days I feel really dim. :o :o :o :o

Borderline dodgy ... but what the heck
My strangest hit was from the search term
Isle of Wight dogging venues :p
I'm guessing (hoping) that "Isle" "Wight" and "Venues" featured strongly enough to warrant the click  :D
Now, if this thread doesn't get edited, MDD will show up for this very search term in the next couple of days :D :D :D
