Soooo impressed..and advice :)

Well, after getting happy with my sound...ive now found my next set of toys :D

I was working with a singer last night, who alos proforms witha caberet group, and he was using a HK Audio Actor system.

He was only running the 2 tops, and a single active bass bin. And from what he said, theres another active bass bin in the setup, and 2 passive bins.

The sound was outstanding and when im ready to change this may be a serious contender.

Just one question, the active tops...can they be ran at full range?

HK Audio are very nice. I had one of the smaller systems the Lucas 1000 and for its size it was a great sound system.

I wished id of kept it for smaller gigs. But the bigger HK Audio stuff is fantastic gear.

I really like HK Audio i think theyre nice.

We have the HK Actor System at the theatre where I do a lot of work, the sound from them is great and the system comprises two 'Tops' and two active and two passive 'Subs'. The tops can be ran at full range as they have a 'DDO' (I think that's what they call it) Controller to select what king of setup you are using whether it be just the tops or two stacks a side. The tops also act as a crossover for the subs and the active sub also powers the passive one.

I like the HK systems but, unfortunately, they are somewhat out of my price range and I haven't been able to justify the cost yet.

I'll keep on trying, though!

There was a bit write up in one of the recent pro mobiles on this system.

Generally good but a few negs that i cant remember. I can dig it out and send it too you as i have read it 100 times whilst on the loo.

I've had an Actor System (ADX) for the last 5 years and an excellent system, sound quality is really good, great deep bass.

When i got it, i found myself putting the whole system into venues (which in all honesty, would have only needed 1/2 a stack each side) as it sounds so good.

I've had one occasion when i had to return one of the full range cabinets due to an amp problem & I had an incident when a small child turned up the dials to full on the back of the unit, and I blew the drivers (i thought it sounded louder than usual during the night and saw the little brat loitering near it but didn't put 2 & 2 together until the end of the night). I've also dropped a couple of full range cabinets and broken the speaker chassis, but that's my fault for not lifting them correctly.

Talking to a tribute band that now run an Actor system, the newest ones are apparantly slightly lighter than my version of the Actor ADX system.

Cannot reccomend it highly enough.

I bought the new Actor system about 3 weeks ago, and bloody typical, I've only done gigs with stairs recently so not been able (willing) to use it, but testing it at home it truly is an awesome sound, both in clarity and power

I still have the bits from an HK LUCAS 1000 which I've blown the top amp on, that also was a great system, hence sticking with HK for my upgrade

Bite the bullet and order one from Germany tomorrow ! ;-)
