Afternoon everyone.
Did a joint 40th & 50th Party last night.
The party was in a function room behind a bar in Stanmore, middlesex and when the Birthday boy booked me, he said that he had a coach load of people coming down from Manchester and he also had lots of his ex army mates coming, aswel as the usual family and friends.
So, when i spoke to him yesterday morning ( Saturday ) i asked how many he was expecting for the Party and he said "about 160", so i said " great so the function room is quite large then" and he said " no not really" .
So i arrive at the venue and i neary fainted:eek: , the room was absolutely tiny, i stood and thought to myself that the room would probably hold about 40 -50 people, i think that it is the smallest function room that i have seen.
I did think that things could get very interesting when all the guests turned up, but it ended up being a great night with the Birthday boy and girl paying for me to end at 1am instead of 12am:)
They had the run of the whole bar, the function room and the garden area, so although it was a bit tight for room, the guests were sort of floating between these areas so they were not all in the function room at the same time ( thank god ).
The northern lot loved the Northen Soul that i played and the ex army lot loved the old Ska music that i played, so it turned out to be a great night and when it got to 12am, someone came over to me to tell me it was now old Sam's Birthday, although she did not tell me Sam's age he did look about 70 ish, so i said on the mic " happy Bithday Sam, we would give you the bumps but we are only here until 1am so we havent got time" This got a huge laugh from the guest aswel as from Sam.
