Thankfully it was one of those very dimly lit venues, so I skulked back in and planted myself behind the deckstand all night. If anyone noticed, no-one said anything :D

I did something very similar many moons ago. Ended up doing a gig firmly rooted behind my stand in a dress shirt, bow tie, dinner jacket, black combat trousers & steel capped boots. Needless to say, I always double check my clothes before leaving home now.

Not an error of omission or memory failure, but a communication problem.

A Young Farmers gig came in, farm venue, so I dressed accordingly. Not the height of haute couture, shall we say. Barely even shabby chic. :o Well, a :beer1: up in a barn, I'm not gonna wear a suit, am I? Wish I had. :o They forgot to tell me it was a Gala Anniversary Ball. In a superb narquee. Best bib and tucker. Oops.

I cant speak for all wedding clients, but I doubt the majority of people mind about what their DJ is wearing, unless a specific dress code is set (eg black tie). ;)

I once sent my laptop charger to a different venue with another DJ who took the van with him. Cost me £30 for a return journey taxi to get it back (good job I was setting up a couple of hours early!)

Not whilst gigging but I went out with two trainers on - can't describe them as a pair as one was black and one was white! :eek:

It was New Years Eve a few years ago and I was going out with some mates early doors to play a game of tenpin. I got ready half asleep and in the dark in my room. Somehow, I'd managed to pick up a trainer from each pair and put them on without noticing until I got to the bowling alley. When I went to change my shoes, that's when I realised my fatal error. I was wondering why people were staring when I walked in!!:o

Even on marquee gigs I never smell or get sweaty and my presentation look fitting & clean - no one ever questioned it.

As a rule, I would always keep the laptop charger in the same case that the laptop is in. You could purchase an extra charger (as a precaution) to add to your leads box.

i have always wondered why people put changing area clauses in the terms and conditions. That's why.

I have a set up which does not take much lugging and is ready in no time at all so never seen the need for changing. i do not wear a tie or anything 95% of the time. just a smart pair of trousers, decent shirt clean black shoes and a jacket. :)

I had one DJ who turned up to a venue called elmers court in shorts and t shirt. It was for a prom and i did not say anything but he did look out of place to say the least :p I can only assume he got changed.

Unless it's a very small rig I always arrive in black polo & black jeans & comfy shoes for the load in & setup.

Im complicated.

For more casual gigs, my set-up clothing is black jeans and black embroidered t-shirt, then change into black trousers, and black embroidered polo shirt.

For more formal gigs, i set-up in the black poloshirt, and change into either black embroidered shirt and tie, or full tux.
