Compact active bins

im looking at possibly changing to an active set up.

I currently have two Smart sound (eminence delta) 12 inch subs
and 10 ich RCF arts (310's) - passive system.

I like to travel light so can anyone recommend some half decent (loud) subs.

i chose my RCF's because they are very loud for the size and brilliant sound quality. (they are something like 10kg each and very small for 128 db) i will probably buy some active versions of those and some subs.

Weight a big issue so ideally under 30kg if thats possible? is there one for under 20 kg :confused:

You seem to have quite a nice set up already I would think you would need to replace them with something like these.

to make an improvement but they don't come cheap.

If you are going to have a powered system (not active) you are going to add a lot of weight so you are defeating the object.
A few makes to check out db technoliges and QSC K series.

I would think if i was you i would keep the RCF 310s and invest in some decent passive subs with a decent outboard amp.

Might be an idea if you could find a powered sub maybe someone like HK Lucas do one that was capable of running 2 tops, so if you did have a problem you could run on one sub and 2 tops and keep your Art 310s

That is an excellent idea! I did not think of that. ;)

I have decided to sell the bins with a pair of Tannoy tops and poles.
I will also sell the amp which is about 9 months old. its a four channel digital one from Thomann with the box etc. 10kg!!!!

If i go active i can also sell my 2U denon mixer & and wavves max bass unit.

Basically all of that will pay for two subs.

These do look nice however. I remember looking at them at BPM. My girlfriend was loving so-solid and i was so-bored so as they were using the speakers on the RCF stand i had a good look. :)

If i buy two of those active sub passive top out bins would that not be easier?
two power supplys & two jack to XLR cables. All i need then is two poles, cables and my RCF's :) the SPL is quite low isnt it for 127 db speakers :confused:

I would want to get the most out of them.

I also have two taco thumps which are quite useful if that helps? :p
