Sound Problem

Hi all i need some help with a problem i have been having for quite some time now and i cant get to the bottom of it.
First of all i will tell you what gear i am using and then the problem im having.

amp w audio 1300 x 2
amp kam kxr 2000
speaker 4 x jac 15's class d
speaker 2 x cd15 p class d
mixer behringer vmx 1000
pa mixer Behringer XENYX 1622 FX
pa mixer LD lax 12d usb
kam kcd 1990 cd players
Laptop with usb soundcard running VDJ

Now bearing in mind that this problem only happens when i have the pa mixers plugged into any amp and the cd15 speakers and only using the laptop, the problem is that we seem to have way too much base and the speakers start pounding and make a horrible noise as if the speakers are busted, we turn the base and mid down on the mixer but it still pounds, we end up turning the volume down and the disco is then quiet.
We first thought it was the behringer pa mixer so we bought the lax one and it now seems to be even worse, with the lax we seem to have a annoying echo even when all fx is turned off and the volume goes up and down as if we had a talkover on.
I had the other jac 15 speakers set up last week for karaoke and even them speakers started popping (thats the only way to discribe it) later on in the night.
When i use my cd players and other vmx mixer i do not have any problems with noise and i can turn the gear up full without any distortion
I have now just bought some new speakers with base bins and crossover to try and sort this problem out but if it still does it with these then i dont have any other clue other than paying for a sound engineer to come and sort things out for me.
If anyone has any ideas then please please help me out.

I suspect that your only problem is your laptop - and I also have a suspicion about what it might be as I had it the other night with a PA hire where the customer plugged their laptop in.

Has your laptop got a microphone on it? If it does, is it set up to run the microphone through the output? Laptop microphones seem to have a hyper-cardiod like behaviour (i.e. they'll only pick up sound coming from directly in front of them) but they still pick up bass through the laptop case - you can either get some wacky pounding bass noises, an almost feedback like behaviour or in some cases, an odd distorted bass note depending on the latency of your USB sound card (in most cases the latency is too high to actually get feedback like you would with a microphone - so you get a kind of weird echo instead).

Try muting the mic on your laptop and see what happens.

It only happens when we just use the laptop by its self with the pa mixer and I have tried three differant laptops and it does exactly the same, but when we plug the laptop through our normal mixer with the cd player in it works fine with no problems.

We checked the mic on the laptop and it was disabled from the first time we used it, and one of the laptops doesnt even have a mic.

any more suggestions we could try before the weekend would be appreciated.

agree with the above

also check that there is not any bass boost from any eq settings on the laptop / soundcard driver.

as a short term solution, you could simply reduce the gain on the amps driving your subs.

Funkymook, it only happens when i use the laptop/s with any of the pa mixers plugged directly in but when i use the laptop/s with the vmx mixer i dont have any problems.
DJ Jules, i have checked this before and its not the problem, one of the laptops i use doesnt have a mic built in.
Discomobiledj, i have just ordered a couple of isolators so i will try this also but i dont think this is the issues with the base problem.
Any other solutions to try before the weekend are more than welcome.

Substitution is always a good idea. Can you enlist a mate with another laptop and soundcard and compare results? It seems that somewhere in your lappy/soundcard is the root cause.

Forgot to mention that i also sometimes connect the laptop via the headphone connection and it is still the same, this i think takes away the suspicion of the soundcard.
Picking my new speakers up on Wednesday and have a party on Friday so will go early and take the pa mixer and try it out first before anyone comes.
