Guys and girls,

Need some advice from others........

My currently flooring in the bathroom is laminate wood flooring which is quite old now ( about 6 years at least ).

Recently had a leaky toilet which has caused the wood to screw up. Toilet is being fixed on Tuesday... but now I'm stuck with a choice to make.

As the whole flooring will need to be replaced, do I replace with wood again, or should I go for tile??

What would you go for??

We currently have re-done ours and tiled the whole floor with underfloor heating, we used to have tiles before but they were in when we moved in and were starting to chip on the corners etc etc (hexagon style tiles) but like i say we have replaced them with the same tiles but with the added extra and for the extra its cost us to install the heating it has made the biggest change, as before when you got out the bath, went toilet etc it was freezing but now Mmmmmmmm nice warm feet lol

Best advice is to go tiles and spend extra for underfloor heating ;)

Cheers Dave :)

Depends on your budget of course, but tiles with underfloor heating would be my first choice.

That's two votes for that then!

Have to admit... underfloor heating is what I was thinking of getting too :) hehehe.

I originally set a budget of £100 as I have small bathroom.... only 10 square metres total size!!

But I think I'm going to allow a budget of about £300... I think!! (I'll probably go over budget knowing me)

Having worked for Tiles R Us when I was 19, I learnt quite a bit so will lay them myself and install heating myself too ... probably! LOL

Funnily enough, I've just had a new bathroom floor & toilet.

Mine is standard chipboard tongue & groove flooring and I'd never have anything to finish it off other than carpet, as it's soft & warm. However, I always go for the special bathroom carpet with a gel backing, as it's waterproof, so if it gets splashed, nothing goes through to the floor underneath it.

Surely colour schemes and the such like would have an effect on the type of flooring you would want?

TBH... I'm gonna completely redecorate anyway LOL

I'm going to refresh the white walls, and clean up the silver fixings... probably thinking now of going with Granite/Black tiles with dark grey grouting.

Not sure yet though :D ... I'm a queen (at times) so I have a tendency to change my mind about 30 or 40 times before I actually do something :) HAHAHA

(( Suddenly thought about going marble now!!! hmmmmmmmmm )) <--- See what I mean

Either or I would say... but I'm not a fan of under-floor heating, it's a very inefficient heating method with a lot of wasted heat.

I'd never have carpet in a bathroom, for the amount of "special" things that may get spilt on it. Even the aim of the finest sworsdman can be off after a night on the ale.

We don't use the underfloor heating to heat the room, just the tiles.

You don't know what you're missing, although I guess it depends on how clumsy you are!

I guess it's good that I don't have nights on the ale, then...although isn't that what toilet mats are for?

Give me a carpet over a cold hard floor anyday, especially in the bathroom. The only room where I'd never have carpet is the kitchen.

To each their own, as the saying goes!

Just re-tiled my bathroom floor, was carpet before I must say the tiles are so much better, the floor boards had to have a plastic grid to lay the tiles on and I re-tiled the walls so took off the skirting and took them right down to meet with mastic seal, looks and works a treat.

Put an application into 60 Minute Makeover and get Colin & Justin to sort it for you ? ;)

Isn't that quite a big bathroom?
