Anyone recommend a company to purchase eminence drivers and woofers from?.

Had a little accident that saw a speaker topple down some stairs last. I need to get the speakers components replaced a.s.a.p!.

Anyone know any good stockists of speaker parts?

Thanks

Be careful there are different qualities with the same brand.

I'm unsure if I've found the correct ones after all.

Maplins have the model number listed as Delta 15 (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=20901&criteria=eminence&doy=23m7)

The ones I'm replacing are Delta 15LFA.

Does anyone know if these are both the same?

Dont think they are.

Don't think so either.

I've found a few stockists of Delta 15LF. Mines are labeled as LFA though?. I shouldn't think it would matter. Both are 8ohm impedance.

Why dont you get the better quality Eminence Kappa if they would fit in, 80oz magnet instead of 56oz, they must sound better.

Preferably I'm looking for the same quality and output as I have in the other speaker. I don't fancy having two differently sounding speakers at the moment. Then agin...I could chop and change the woofers to match things up...put a kappa in each speaker to balance things. Hmmmm.

Plus....this is just a temp solution for me till next year. Planning on getting the Bose PAS system sometime in '07.

Have you heard one yet Shaun?

Not had the pleasure yet. I have friends stateside that own them, and they swear by them. I've been following the Bose debates since the PAS came on the scene.

Oh I see I was just thinking of delivery charges and it's s@ds law if you replace one driver the other one will blow.

Sods law is a pain in the a$$. I dropped one speaker down a flight of steps and both woofers broke. What's the chances of that eh? :D

I'll be buying two after all.

They were being demoed at the NADJ AGM, and they did sound very 'hi-fi', but they were in a small room and so didn't go very loud, so I'm still undecided about them.

I've heard a few people complain about the very same thing at low volumes. They seemingly come into their own when pushed at a higher output. I've been told that for lower volumes there are settings that can be altered on the back of the unit.

So if youv'e got twin woofers why not have one old one & one new better quality one, in each could sound good ?

Don't use the standard Kappa 15, it has a low 'Xmax', so is not suitable for bass use.

Try http://www.bluearan.co.uk for Eminence...

Delta 15LFA is the shop description of the speaker but are same speaker as the delta 15 hope this clarifies would suggest a better model though like clarion or celestion

Well yes, if he wanted to replace the other driver(s) too.

I would be looking at PD, P-Audio or B&C though.

It appears the Delta15's are 400 watt rms, wheras the Delta15LF are 500 watt with an extended Xmax for more bass delivery.

The Delta 15LF's seem to be what I'm after. I don't want to go to the expense of replacing the woofers in the speaker thats still functional. I'd prefer just to replace the componants in the faulty speaker on a 'like for like' basis.

Well, the components arrived today. Talk about dissapointment. Both have a raspyness to the bass especially at low volumes, the sound improves on one of them at higher gains but the other sounds terrible at all volumes.

I sense a heated phone call tommorow.....

Not good...

Eminence aren't the best in the world, but i have fitted lots over the last couple of years and never had 1 problem 'out of the box'.
