Benny Hill or not?

Martin is sorting a bit more footage out for me for the website and he is asking for opinion on whether this footage and music goes with the site and the kind of service I provide.

Opinions please?

I'd say yes. It injects a bit of humour & also shows how much effort goes into it.

I'd change the wording from hotel room to function suite though

The Benny Hill tune works fine, I've used it myself on video in the past when I've speeded it up. It's a bit 'obvious', but works good. :)

I think it works...and also agree with Steve...change the wording slightly to be a more generalisation of what you can do with a plain room...afterall not everyone has their reception in a hotel ;)

No objection to the music but I would be worried of people misunderstanding that 'the solitaire treatment' means you stick loads of truss and lights into every gig you do, which would either put people off if thet're looking for minimalistic or make idiots think you do all that as standard (I.e.without charging more!)

With all due respect, how on earth is a DJ meant to stop people taking bottles or glasses on the dance floor?

Announcements don't work, neither do threats to stop the music, as I've tried both on many occasions...and they made no difference whatsoever.

So what's the secret?

I would lose the benny hill music, been done to death. Swap it for something like Paulo Nutini, 'pencil' or something. the fast one he did, cant remember it for the life of me. I adore that dancefloor!!

On another note

Personally i dont think its the dj's job to keep drinks off the dance floor. The venue should hire security, not cut corners and get the dj to do it. I will make announcements every 30 mins or so but never stop the music UNLESS it was a regular venue i work for who stipulate this must happen.

1) I didn't say I'd only do it at one of our regular venues, I said I do it with full blessing of one of our regular venues.

2)I'd have to sack myself, which is highly unlikely.

Usually the stories of how my front teeth got to look like they do & the lacerated bride, coupled with threats to stop the music have the desired effect & the only times I do have to stop the music are at Christmas parties* at our regular venue mentioned above.

*Where there is a larger than usual proportion of people who don't usually drink & therefore can't handle it. (you can spot them a mile off & they are usually the ones that try to dance & drink)

I don't the music goes with the image of the company

The image of the company says quality, the music on the video says tacky (imho) some may say fun, but what do you associate benny hill with?

I quite like it. I think the speeding up of the film and the Benny Hill music works although I have seen it before elsewhere but that's not saying the customer has.

I do agree that some may think the massive rig is a put off but then like you said, if they look around the site, they'll see that you have a number of different rigs and that's where the "tailor to suit your requirements" comes in.

Like the idea of the video, not sure on the Benny Hill theme for it though TBH - I think you could also lose 10 seconds or so off the end as once you've seen several seconds of people dancing to one particular song it's enough. I feel you also need a 'worded' ending similar to your title as the video just fades to nothing at the moment.

I'd be scared to mount moving heads on column supports at the corner of the dance floor, I bet they work well, but I'd be too scared of someone bumping into them and knocking them off

It's not supposed to showing the DJ. If it was, there would be footage of the DJ, who was me, so yes, I was there and no it wasn't on automix.
