I'm trying to connect a Dell Inspiron Laptop to a Toshiba LCD TV via a 5m VGA Cable without much luck.
In the past connecting a laptop to a 2nd monitor has been child's play - but I've never tried a TV before.
Are there restrictions or technical hurdles to overcome I'm unaware of with a TV versus a Monitor?

There shouldn't be any issues as i plug my laptop in sometimes via vga and all i have to do is use a jack to jack lead to get sound from the laptop to the tv
Cheers Dave :)

have you checked the television is set to the VGA output on your remote control.
You know the menu where you select between AV1, AV2, HDMI 1, 2 etc etc. there should be an option thats named VGA there or PC
you would need to put your telly into VGA Mode for it to work. With a desktop monitor its only a vga device where as a telly you need to switch to it.
Also check your settings for the display adapter extend onto another monitor etc etc.
let me know how it goes.

thanks for the replies lads - yes I think the TV mode needs to go to PC - I've downloaded the manual and may be a step closer
