Check to see if there's a switch on the back marked "Ground lift" or "Lift". If so, switch off, and move it across. See if this helps when you restart it.

Its not actually broken is it===oooops.

ebay again:eek:

Probably component failure.

If you really have time on your hands take the casing off and see if there are any obvious loose wires or things waggling around which make noises when you touch them--try shaking the unit when fully connected see if it gets better or worse.

Is it an earthing problem maybe--could possibly be the power pack --try another one?

I had a problem with a second hand unit like that which was offered by a Disco shop==I took it for a PAT test--failed on earthing but neither the PAT tester OR the manufacturer could identify the problem or fix it.

I have one of those actually, problem with mine is waggly connection from the power pack jack==works though but would fail PAT and cost more than its worth to repair.

Call a taxi for the rubbish dump.;)

OR put it back on ebay ---nothing broken guvnor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had this problem with my Acer recently. At a gig, I unplugged a light while the computer was playing low background music (I was finished at the time) and the music stopped playing. I think I've sent a power surge through the soundcard and knocked something out.

So, as I know Acers have an inherent fault with electrical interference, I've just bought a couple of Ground Loop Isolators (dad got two for 7 quid online) and I'm going to try them out tonight. The system has been making an abvious buzzing when the laptop was silent but the channel was turned up. I'm hoping these devices fix the problem or it's time for a new soundcard!

Unplugging a light should not have affected your laptop and what sockets you using anti- surge ones?
Groundloop isolaters are needed for most laptops and p.c's .....

It was working fine until I unplugged the light and the music crashed. My lighting equipment is always plugged in to surge-protection sockets so I agree that the situation was unusual but true none-the-less.

I've tested the ground loop isolators tonight and am highly impressed at the difference they make. I thought the channel on my mixer wasn't working at first as it was so quiet. It's saved me a new soundcard so I'm well happy! :)

I did that with my Vestax VCI 300 the other day! Only problem so far, but i unplugged a light mid gig (on the same power) and it just stopped operating. the track kept going however - so i jumped on itunes sharpish. a restart sorted it :) .

As per mixer - Its at my amp mans house and luckily he has the same mixer brand new for the time being from a client in the past who decided he did not want it so he knows all the circuit diagrams. He did say straight away about a power problem ;)

It may have been humming because it didn't know the words to the track you were playing...
