Problem with class d bass bin

I noticed i had a problem with one of my class d bass bins last week (think they are cd15ns?).

I noticed i was getting no output from the bass bin but the top end speaker linked to the out terminal was working fine.

Any ideas?

Ive looked after my speakers and only used the bins twice so not so happy if one is gone already. Never used above 3/4 way on my ep4000.

Need to get inside check with meter ,firstly the bass driver open circuit ? and of course the wiring make sure nothing has come detached ,does it have passive cross over if so check.

I had/have the same problem , mine was a faulty crossover , the mid/top frequency's were still going to the tops , but nothing was going to the 15"speaker , class d have been reporting the crossovers out of stock for over 3 months now :( .

Im accepting that the leads are ok as the signal was going to the tops ok (using the cdns built in crossover).

Maybe the crossovers are out of stock because they keep on blowing(!) Ive read a few times on here of this.

Have you checked the link to the driver. my bins had a push fit like you get in cars and that had come off once.

If you have not dropped it or ragged it then it should not be anything too serious?

Cant you use stand alone xovers instead. :confused:

First move, open it up, check for connectors off. Second, either meter the bits as suggested, or swap with the good cab.Third, ring Class D, ask for Gary. Fourth, buy an active crossover and second amp. You won't believe the difference, I've done the A-B test, and was staggered. The Class D crossovers are not the mosr robust

OK - ive had a check and all wiring seems to be intact. The problem i have is i didnt take note of which cab it was so i had to check both!
The crossovers seem like a simple affair with just a couple of caps and transformers. If i go over to a seperate crossover im guessing i need to rewire the cabs so the crossover isnt being used and then utilise the speakon connectors on the cab as disconnecting one and then wiring the other straight to speaker?

Just a had thought - to get me through this weekend, as i havent got a seperate crossover at the moment would it be possible to connect the tops to my ep2500 (on full range - they still sound good) and then connect the bins to my backup amp (wa1300) and run that amp has mono-bridged?

As a work round, running the tops full range as you suggest is of course no problem, and there's no need to bridge the sub amp, run it as normal, and bypass the faulty crossover inside the cab. Don't thrash the subs though, as the bypassed one will be getting higher frequencies to deal with, as well. In all honesty, you shouldn't need to run them hard, cos the tops are full range anyway. Do you really need the subs as well for this gig? Can you wait till you get an active crossover? Do you have a backup pair of tops? Could you run two full range sets off an amp each?

No backup tops im afraid. I could make do with just the tops as its only about 100 people but its a 21st so plenty of bass needed. The tops do pump out quite a bit so may just run one sub with the seperate amp as i think my backup amp has a faulty channel anyway so one channel needed. There is also a sub switch on the backup amp so maybe i can use this to get more bass rather than running the sub full range too?
