What did you get from BPM this year?

Yesterday treated ourselves to the following

2 Laptop stands used it last night and saved me space on my stand, a worthwhile purchase.

1 Pair headphones (upgraded my numark HF125 headphones) and very good quality

At hopefully secured a (£280) saving on truss booth system (3m x 3m x 2.5m)

Not quite bought from BPM, but spotted the Chauvet Cirrus laser effect at BPM and ordered from my local supplier who walked over to the Chauvet stand and ordered 10. My two should arrive this week. Here's the link (http://www.chauvetlighting.com/cirrus.html)

They just looked a little different to the usual laser and LED effects and wanted something a little different to the norm. On the whole I didn't spot anything else that really jumped out and grabbed me, a lot of the same old effects that are being done to death with slight updates. I did like the video curtain that was up behind the DJ on the DJ Kit stand and the ones on the S&H stand. Unfortunately for £10k they'll have to stay there too.

I don't go to BPM to buy stuff, I go to meet people from this forum!

The Cirrus laser looks like the Plasma laser which Phase1 were showing a while ago... :)

I think they're identical. I really hadn't been looking for a laser effect at all, however seeing it in the flesh, it just caught my eye (and my wallet!).

Aren't QTX a rebrand of Chauvet or vice versa? I'm sure they had Chauvet advertising on the QTX stand at BPM?

Ultimax. 4ft closed, one square tube sliding over the other one, and extending I guess to 6ft, in stages. Had holes for locking pins to set it at the desired width. Impressive, but Steve didn't fancy one, cos he said some of his DJ's would over-extend it, and tip the whole shebang in the floor!!

bought just a couple of new releases from Mastermix.

I am quite skint after buying the QSC K12+Ksubs system last week.... luckily didn't see it cheaper at the show. The Crane Stands were cheaper.... but hey-ho!

I need to start saving for some of the other stuff...

Those pixelscan coloursmart screens were amazing. Full colour video on what looks like a starcloth.

Some very smart lasers.... and quite out of my price range....

I was very impressed by the Void Acoustics Stasys (JHA)... and was blown away by the bass on that system. If I am every doing a gig for more than 1,000 people I will be hiring that gear in.

After that show I am well up for getting in to Ableton live. Really good fun.

Could not work out the AKAI controllers this morning but the one on the VESTAX stand was well easy.
It was 11am and i was still drunk so that did not help.

Cant believe there were no touch screen DJ consoles like that Traktor video one!!
Thats the main reason I went.

The bloke on the Denon stall thinks next year will be THE year of change.

However this is what I want! Ableton guitar

Just a matter of time. There were alot of midi controllers than last year so things must progress at some point. I like those analogue Korg units. really cool. :)

And how small the actice RCF speakers are now. i have a 310 and the new ones are even tinier and light. 400 watts 127 spl!!

Took a decent wedge (same as last year), didn't spend it (same as last year)!

Went Saturday and Sunday, got plenty of ideas, met a few people - but not as many as I would have liked.

Anyone see the Air DJ app thingy? Looked like a lot of fun - but probably not possible to use it at a gig without looking like an idiot. I may well invest in it once it goes live - did they say £9 later this month?

Im trying to work it out now. not very simple - i prefer garage band :).
The novation stuff seems good, but the vestax was so simple to use! - Watch out Calvin Harris!
I got my head round it in seconds unlike the xone itch controller! No idea - far too complicated for my needs.

Keep an eye out on the deckstand booth website as when the new one launches very soon there will be a product on there call the Deckstand Booth "flex"

Sadly the prototype wasn't ready in time for BPM but i did tell as many people as possible about it..

The deckstand booth micro flex will "flex" from the standard 2ft up to a 4ft one and the deckstand booth pro flex will "flex" from a standard 4ft to 6ft...

and dont worry you can only "flex" it when you set it up... not with kit on it...

Don't worry Shaun - The "flex" is just an addition to the product range - it wont replace any of the current models so The Deckstand Booth pro and micro deckstand booth will still be available when the "flex" launches.

But you will be pleased to know we are doing an upgrade kit for the micro deckstand booth as one of the optional extras of the micro booth range which will allow you to use the micro as a 2ft or a 4ft :)

Yes we do brackets so that you can use the ultimax overheads... The only thing it's not compatible with is the winch stands as that requires a 50mm bracket which we don't do at present!

Timescale in the "flex" will be ASAP! i just want to put the prototype through it's paces a little first but it will be with in the next 6 months (although there is a busy firework and christmas period in the middle of it to bear in mind)...
