Well tonight will see me going all ACTIVE :eek: after my episode with last weeks drunken girl, im still to source some decent speakers so tonight i shall be using a full active mackie setup now hopefully if i get use to it and i prefer it to passive i think this is the way i shall be going.....

Only time will tell, will upload some images later or after the gig

And passive is the way to go IMVHO. Each to their own.

Well im VERY impressed by the power/looks/sound quality basically everything about the Mackies i used last night, Now would i convert to active Hmmmm i suppose yes and no yes as its alot easier to setup and no messing with amps etc, and no just down to the extra cables etc BUT like i say i was very impressed and i think if and when money is at a free ill be buying some active's

As for the ones i used last night there was no heat off them what so ever.

as I made the move from peavey to mackie recently I have to say I'd never use passive again unless it was something top notch.

I too have recently moved to active. The main reason is worrying about backup and how quick it would be to get going again should equipment failure happen. The second reason was versatility.

IMO apart from this I can see much benefit. I know it is not many extra cables but seems like spaghetti junction

Dave, had you thought about what happens when an active unit gets SMASHED INTO THE FLOOR BY A DRUNK.

Just in case you hadnt---painfully expensive.

I would consider sticking to Peavey Pro 15s, they can take it (mine have bounced enough times) if your working in an environment where this may well happen on a regular basis again.

No I dont work in drunken environments much, just seem to have had a few "accidents"

Yes your right, you need to consider these things.

Its all to do with who can handle the alcohol, so you would need to think about that, teenage parties are probably the worst I guess, although I havent done one for a very long time but theres plenty of people on here can advise you.

Last night the Bride did not have a large full glass of white wine out of her hand the whole evening other than during the Ceilidh dances, but gave no indication of being out of control, other than visiting the ladies several times

In fairness over 100 people-- not one drink was spilled or glass smashed--serious drinkers:beer1:

It depends on who you are dealing with--other events have had several glasses broken and people were dancing on broken glass until bar staff arrived.
