Is it just me or does anyone else ever have the problem of arriving at a venue to find the stage is always brim full of chairs etc

Yes you are right,normally tables as well

Oh yes I forgot the tables......

It is a right pain in the aris if we have to spend 30 mins or more to clear the stage before set is even possible.

And even worse, the commitee start stacking the chairs and tables back on the stage before the party has finished

yes and there is never anywhere to put them so they are out of our way.

You would think they would respect their hirer and wait until the party has finished.

I have found this many times and if they are not moved off stage then I set up on the floor.

That is what I have started to do mate if time is short (some caretakers think you can set up and be ready in 15mins!!!

I had this last night!
It wasn't on a stage though. I was at a venue doing a 60th Birthday. Went to see the venue midweek and arranged to go in at 10.30am Saturday to set up. When I got there, there were a load of tables and chairs in the way. I asked if they could be moved when I arrived and I was ignored. I started to move them myself and was then noticed and asked "What are you doing?". I explained that I had arranged to set up and the woman apologised and said there must have been some mis-communication.....She still didn't help me though!

They never do help Gary.

Even if you are tight for time to set up the caretaker will stand and watch you struggle, this is after he has turned up late to let you into the venue in the first place

There is another thing. What about if you go to a social club and the in house bands equipment is still set up ( drums and a massive organ )

Its worse when you do a club and the previous nights disco is still set up!
