CROWN CH1 Power Amp

Just brought one on ebay for £10. Sold as dead but fixable(nothing lights up on the front).

Is there something which goes on these easily? The guy said it was working. Turned it off, tried to turn it back on and nothing. I'm thinking this maybe just a dead switch? No noticable burning smell....

I think what Viper2k10 meant was that the seller said the amp was working fine one minute, then he turned it off and tried to turn it back on again and there was nothing.

(The first time, I read it the same way you did, Darren, but then went back and re-read a couple of times and I think that's what he meant!)

It could have been a couple of years ago. ;)

I’m afraid its hard to say whether it will be a simple fix.

What puzzles me is why would you want to turn it on after you just turned it off, surly you only turn it off for one reason?!!

Electrical Equipment like this has thousands of components so it could be ANY OR MANY OF THEM that have failed.

Basic checks--

Fuse on mains plug

Actual Mains plug fully connected--
i.e. all 3 wires connected

Any obvious fuses on the exterior of the amp checked as ok.

Condition of the mains connecting cable may give a clue--it could have failed physically --but then the PAT test would have picked this up---

Two stages after this are --

1.Visit to Repairers

2. Possible huge estimate( assuming spares obtainable) may need you to move to number 3

3. Consult your Yellow Pages to find your nearest rubbish dump or

4. Sell on ebay as not working.

As you have no knowledge of amps I would recommend you DO NOT try and repair yourself--COULD BE FATAL FOR YOU.:eek: :eek: :eek:
