OK,

I do allot of first dances etc. and they always follow a speech in which i am away from the booth. Being a loan DJ how can I remotely play the first dance or any other tracks (ie happy birthday) wirelessly :confused:

In some situations it would bebetter not to have to go back until half way through the first dance etc. Or when I am in the crod and need to play a certain track (ie embarrassing a birthday girl or something, best man speech audio etc.)

I have some wireless tranmitters but they are cheap ones.
I run a vestax VCI and a macbook.

I was thinking of an ipod type afair?
It needs to be discreet.

I can stick this on the booth and just use the remote :)

Toby, firstly...if you're a loan DJ (as said above)...loan us a few grand!

Does it really matter to be out on the floor? I never do that personally and stay put behind the decks. Everyone knows where I am.

I see your point, but like to get in amongst people at some events (not all).

I like it especially at dinner functions for older folk.
They seem to be more friendly when i get going. :)

Toby, I have a wireless mic and have wandered out before. I generally do it if someone wants to make a speech so I walk out and announce it and give them the microphone.

That is a good idea although I usually use the djing as an excuse not too when i get asked.

The pacemaker still needs a wireless sender? an ipod would suffice as its only one track. or several for a best man speech or so.
I am always wandering at the end of an event sorting out lights or what not so it would be very helpful then as i often miss the end of some ending tracks (not that anyone ever notices).

But i use itunes for playlist. so a wireless device that can control a playlist of a few tracks would be helpful.

I've successfully used one of those USB remote clicker things that you can get for doing powerpoint presentations.

Basically there's a dongle goes in the computer and a handheld switch.

Line up the mouse pointer over the item you want to click on (PLAY, for example :p ) and away you go.

There's a bunch of them like Logitech R400 Wireless Presenter: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories but make sure you get one where you can map a button to left-click ;)

You dont want to be at the DJ stand when the First Dance is played or theres a speech because its embarrassing.

And anyway the DJ only mumbles through a muffled pa system.

Your suggestion appears to be you want to start the first Dance but not be at the decks.

My suggestions--

Get a remote and possibly use a mini disc player.

Get a Peavey 4 speaker system like mine and you WILL be heard.

This may have missed the point--;)

To introduce the first dance or me at a dinner function.
Have a look here this may explain it. :)

I often introduce the bride and groom into the room which means I am a distance from the decks.
It would be handy to press play on a remote rather than having to turn my back to a crowd and leg it to the decks.

Not on this occasion obviously as my bedroom is bigger than this venue :D not a very long speech either.

The one I had was had three buttons; one for clicking the mouse and one on each side for forward/back. I obviously mapped these in the software so that they wouldn't affect my playout software.

They are designed for powerpoint, but with a bit of research I'm sure you can turn up one that will do the trick.

Great idea, but I do not think I would want a phone in my hand as it may look
like i am checking my texts whilst introducing the bride and groom :p

Most laptop have wireless in. I have used the iphone wireless touch mouse and it connects to the wifi with out a router.

The virtual dj iremote uses an adhoc wirless network. Your laptop acts as the wireless network for the ipod or iphone and is totally secure and involves no cost as long as you already have an iphone or ipod touch.

You do not need to have a wireless internet connection at all just wirless capability on your laptop.
