But the Wariors that penfold had were 400w rms each and the Class d were 350w rms, so don't both pairs of speakers have to be the same?

Nope, not for the sake of 50W.
Just take the lowest figure, so look at it as 2 x 350W (700W) to play safe :)

Correct. If I were running those paired up, I'd be quite happy with an amp providing 1000w RMS at 4 ohms ( and that's a big amp ) . The biggest divergence is likely to be in sensitivity, and with those two pairs, I wouldn't get too excited about that even.

If you have 350w @ 8 bass and 350w @ 8 tops by wiring them in parallel/linked together you will be driving at 4 ohms with a total power of 700watts. To get the best sound without straining the amp it should be at least one and a half times the speaker handling so 1000w at 4 ohms would be suitable. It is always best to have overhead available, ie more power than you need.
I recently sold a Yorkville AP4040 1200w into 4 ohm for £325 (£nearly £1000 when bought new) and it went to Hungary to a guy who know about quality amps.

Agreed totally, but I'm pretty sure all cabs involved are full range. (If we're running subs and tops through the crossover, then the amp is indeed too big. ) Wired in parallel ie tops first, then link to subs, no probs, big amp's fine.

so funny i come across this a little story about class d speakers, i was a resident dj at a pub in darwen, lancashire and every sat night we would have an act on wether it be a band or solo artist. anyway we where all excited because the venue had booked nathan moore from the 80s group brother beyond. he turned up with a set of class d subs and tops that sounded so bad he had to use my system for the second set. to give you an idea on how bad it sounded. at the time i was using a pair of the cheap peavey pro subs and a pair of 15" kam tops that were only 200notes new. so message to all stay clear of class d, i think they are so bad they couldnt even call them class b stock..

Class D JAC 12s are perfect for live vocals / bands, we have hired these out over the past 6 months and have been highly praised on both quality and performance, perfect for karaoke too, nearly all of our kit are Class D and have no problems with sound problems.

Hang on ... that's like saying because you had a ride in a clapped out Mondeo taxi driven by a lunatic in Istanbul one time that all Fords must be :Censored: :daft:

I've never owned Class D but I've heard a few (they're cheap, so lots of Sids use them) and they're not bad speakers. I've certainly heard much worse.



Edit: There's a member on here having a problem with his Denon HD2500 just now - a flickering hard drive by the sounds of it - does that make Denon crap? Hmmm....

There's so many other factors that could've come into consideration along the signal path that I think it's just a bit ridiculous to cane an entire brand for the sake of one dodgy setup in a dodgy bar in the middle of nowhere...

Sound is subjective. For every one person that likes Class D, there will be plenty that don't. I believe Tony Penmare has Class D and Mackie and when he heard my RCF cabs, he said there was no comparison.
