Saturday night I lent some equipment to a fellow DJ and what I thought was a friend.

The venue was Elland Road, In the bremner suite, He was covering a job for me and I provided all the gear, I went to pick all the equipment up from the venue yesterday as I was working in a club on Saturday night.

I have returned to the venue to find that my Allen & Heath Xone 62 mixer has been stolen, It is the older model of Xone 62 which has a shiny silver face plate and also the master volume is a fader rather than a k**b. This was rack mounted in a KamKase rackmout case with different coloured rack mountings as they are for the newer models.

This has now been logged with West Yorkshire police and I have also been in contact with all other DJ's that I know. CCTV has also been requested from Elland Road and I will be checking that at 9am tomorrow once the manager authorises it.

I am a very un-happy bunny at the moment as I think the DJ in question has stolen the mixer because out of all the other kit that was there, the mixer was the only thing that was stolen.

Why dont you phone bloke and tell him cctv will have picked it up and venue are going to release the footage to the fuzz. if he did take i he could cough.

Already done that, Keeps declining my calls.

I am down there tomorrow morning to check the CCTV footage as the manager needs to authorise it because of the Data Protection Act apparently.

I have a bit of experience in this department!

If he's hired it from you, he is responsibile for it as long as you can show they were under his care i.e. the agreement was that the mixer hired to him until the time that you collected them or had them returned by him.

This will hold even if you don't have a contract, since it's implied in any kind of "hire" agreement whether done formally or not.

I would advise him that if it isn't recovered within a certain timeframe, then he will have to pay the replacment cost. If he's knicked it, I bet it'll soon show up!

Thanks for the reply Dan, I have a text message conversation on my iPhone agreeing to the hire of the mixer and other equipment to him.

I have left him a few voice mails now explaining the situation and I have also just sent him an e-mail detailing the options we can take. If it had of been a cheaper mixer such as Citronic or KAM then I would be tempted to let the situation go but seems as its a Allen & Heath then I have to pursue this matter.

It doesnt matter what make/model, some one has taken your equipment with out your consent. (theft is theft)
