Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? For many many years, I only had a 70w mono amp!!!!
When I got a 100w+100w, well wow!!:D :D :D :D :D :D

Funny how they were always loud enough, isn't it? :D :D

wow, that brought back memories!! the equipment for my first disco's in the mid 70's was very mix n match - 1 Garrard SP25, 1 Garrard AP76 with crystal cartidges, amplifier was a TUAC guitar amp, only 1 speaker but my pride and joy - it was a Peavey vocal monitor wedge. Not surprisingly the lack of bass was regularly commented on! Still, my first paid do was a wedding reception for which I received £7!!! Very brave of the couple to trust their special day to a 15yr old! Fortunately I had (= my parents had!) quite a few ballroom dance and party dance records, I used to buy loads of ex-juke box discs and I may possibly have used a reel-to-reel to playback songs recorded from the radio.................:)

moved on a bit from there, my favourite combination in the early 80's being the Citronic SM515, Stanton carts, Squire minbins and my Quad 405 which is still going strong today and regular use at home

I miss my old FAL ranger it too had a 70 watt MONO amp, and I did bigger venues with a capacity of 400+ now I use far more for rooms holding only 80? I used to love the garrad turntables and 2 pound stylus's, basic but relaible,and like cars from years ago you could fix them very easily.

The faders on the mixer used to fail occasionally but I could open the unit strip down clean it up and replace it during the buffet. I too thought I'd hit the big time when I went stereo, well 2 amps anyway!

I remember when I started at the age of 13 used to use a Technics Hi-fi with a huge fan (modded) on the top to keep it cool and stop it cutting out. Not sure what power it was but it wasnt a lot, but lasted a good few years until I bought an H/H V500 which I had for over 15 years.

Brings back the memories - breaking our backs lugging the huge boxes of records and the H&H 100w amp, then having to pick up the decks to stop the needles jumping when the old 2p on the tone arm didn't work!?!?

The citronic Hawaii was the first deck i ever brought got it off me mums catalog (kays i think) sadly no longer with us but i still have lotts of those 7" round black things in the loft, powered it with my brothers h&h bass amp and speaker for my 1st gig and if i remember right i got £25 for the night

I remember being allowed to cue up a record on one of those twin deck things in 1974 when I was a 6 year old at a family night Disco. I think it was then that I must have got the bug for this job.

I have noticed the record adaptor for the ex jukebox cheapy records....
and the Luton Disco and Lighting Centre badge on the right hand side above the main switch,a great shop!!!

Yep Hawaii here as well paired with a 100 watt H&H combo amp and a pair of house bricks to keep the styless on the record. Later swapped for a early technics decks with the optical speed monitors.
Makes me wince now but that was what everyone else had at the time. I had 2 4 ft light screens at the fron with a large 5ft infinity screen in the middle. And of course the 6ft uv tube with my name printe on a backboard in uv paint. Ah I actually miss those days it seemed so much easier. And the gear could take a bit more rough handling than the modern equivelents.

A club that I work in uses still to this day H&H pro 150's and pro series 2 speakers and we still have a H&H PA Amp not sure what model H&H still sound pretty good as well.:)

The first set-up i used was a H&H rig (powered mixer and speakers). If i remember correctly 300w speakers and 350w mixer. That was coupled with a minidisc player and two (normal) CD players.

The first set-up i bought myself was Citronic CDM10:4 mixer and Citronic CD2 CD Players with a 300w skytec amp and same make speakers :)
