Well i think its my turn to have the bad news now :(

Just sat talking to jo (partner) about NYE and the gig we are doing at our regular pub booking and 5minutes later i get a phone call from the landlord explaining that he is having to stop all entertainment as the pub is dieing out and not getting the trade its needs so therefore he has had to cancel a group called "The Tomkatz" and myself :(.

Now i thought it was just the monthly gig i do for them but nope its NYE aswell as the local miners club down the road is a very busy place no matter what and they have got 2 live acts on and he has said to me that he cant compete what so ever with them.

It's hurting to say the least as they treated myself,Joanne and my 2 kids like we were family but unfortunatly as we all know business comes first in that type of issue.

Anyway thought i would post my unfortunate news and now i best get advertising in the other thread for Availability lol

Cheers Dave :)

Not really funny Darren. :(

I believe this is Dave's only income? How would you like no work in December and trying to support Xmas with your family?

Dave....this is such a FICKLE business.Although I have been doing a Quiz Night for years now this is not the norm!!Nothing seems to last long.

To maintain a residency (as you have) is becoming increasingly difficult. You have to maintain the footfall to justify what you take and that is hard enough in itself. Not only that you have to make sure you're following don't get fed up with you and vice versa.I Ditched a residency last year because I couldn't stand the petulant behaviour of the karaoke singers....probably regret it now as they are harder to find now..

You're a survivor...you'll be fine. All of us should have no trouble in finding a well-paid gig for NYE....don't panic!!:) :)

Charming.

What I said was to lighten the situation and Dave took it in good humour.

Now get off my case please.

Just to clarify and to not to add fuel but i did indeed take it in humour as that is how i look at things in the same perspective as Darren.

End of the day it's business and nothing else :)

Nobody's getting my sarcasticness today...

Then maybe it's time to put the 'sarcasm' to rest, especially as there is such a large chance of misinterpretation. :beer1:

In other words Charlie / Charles / Chas etc etc....Take a 'Chill Pill'. There is being sarcastic and there is being out of order. A fine line and you are balancing on that line in your high heels!

Sorry to hear that, Dave, and so late in the year, too!

There's still a chance of picking up work for the night, though. About 3/4 weeks ago I was free NYE but then I took a booking and then got a further 2 enquiries in the same week!

Still glad I took the first one, though!

For the record, I chuckled at Darrens comment. Come on Charlie :)

I'm pretty sure Charlie didn't realise that Beauchamp is not pronounced Bow-Shump but as Dave describes it!!!I was mid 30's before I realised it

Without it being Beechams the gag looses some effect....;) ;) ;) ;)

I have just had the same - a venue we do all year has just dropped lots of nights including NYE.

You win some you lose lots I guess?!
