Or don't have a overhead lighting stand and go minimalistic - two poles to hold my EFX's?

Can you fit the DSB in your dads car? Am I right in thinking it doesn't fold in the middle like the S&H does for easier transportation?

When I worked with Darren I remember the S&H booth folded nicely. I know that would fit.

In fairness Charlie, you're unlikely to receive much guidance ;)
All threads of this type eventually become expressions of the personal preference of the posters, and if you're going to go along with the most popular suggestions of combination, that's hardly indicative of your much-vaunted individuality. :confused:
You must, yourself, choose what is right for you in terms of appearance, portability and functionality. (Budget also appears to be a major consideration for you too ;) )

Perhaps you could persuade 'Dynamo' to make you some mock-ups of the options available and base your decision on those ? :)

What's a pealight? What's the difference between that and LED?

Pealights are similar to Xmas tree lights whereas LEDs are ummm LEDs :D

It's the kind of thing you need to see in the flesh really to see the difference, LED gives a much purer white whereas pealight has the yellowy tinge but this isn't captured well on photos.

Pea is little light bulbs I think and obviously don't last as long as white LED's

Not much between the two the pea cloth lights are more an orange colour though (only from pics I've seen).

If it's any help - I've just had a custom sized Deckstand Booth made. It's sized somewhere inbetween the Pro and the Micro (though of course any size can be made as it's bespoke). I felt the Pro was far too large for me, and the Micro too small.

It's based on the Micro so the end wings come off rather than being attached and hinged like the Pro). As it comes apart it makes the individual components much lighter than the Pro and easier to fit in the car, get into the venue etc.

Very easy to put together (it's no more hassle than an Ultimax). The Ultimax uprights and overhead fit with the screw on brackets - though for flatter storage and packing away you do need to remove the brackets each time - but only takes a couple of minutes.

As it was a custom size the cloth had to be made bespoke as well - I didn't go for the star cloth (personal preference).

Pricewise - wasn't much different from the off-the-shelf models.

Fantastic service from Graham - we discussed at length what I required at the initial design stage and I was kept up to date with the progress throughout.

I'm happy owning both the Ultimax and Deckstand (use the same overheads for each) - I can now fit into most spaces and have the choice of an appropiate, professional looking stand for any occasion.
