i will start this off as quite a number of other threads have mentioned it

after speaking to quite a few people and also reading coments about it posted on various forums thought i would ask the question.

I take a spare amp, mixer and twin cd player. I think better be safe than sorry and have had to resort to using a spare unit only twice in 42 years.

Whats backup? :)

In seriousness my backup consists of

Spare Mixer
Spare Laptop
CD wallet
Spare Serato Box
Single spare active speaker

I dont bother with backup lighting as if one goes than the others can compensate.

maybe somebody will add some options to the poll, was just to give an idea what people do actually use for back up,because people bang on about it relentlesly

i take an ipod, and the laptop has plenty of music on its hard drive, incase the external hard drive fails.

if im travelling more than 30 mins from home, i'll take a cd player and some disks.

For me, its a 2nd PA.
My main PA is active, so the back-up system is my old rig - 2 Passive 300W+Flightcased Amp.
I then have a 2nd playback, Mixer with SD Card Player, loaded with "party favourites" with 2nd SD Card of 1st Dances/Special requests (this is generally only updated for weddings)

I do not carry any back-up lighting, but do have replacement lamps/fuses.

I've also got a spare pair of headphones, and Mics...

I guess, I don't want to be the DJ that had to finish the party early due to equipment failure.

Same here I dont fit on list really so won't vote. I carry full spare decks full spare music ay least 2 spare lighting effects usual spare nuts bolts fittings etc. Couple of spare stands (sometimes) spare cables for everything. Spare fuses for everything. Spare mics and wireless mics. Spare lamps for effects in use.

If I am travelign far from base I may carry spare speakers as well just incase but this is rare. As Iuse powered speakers that are bi amped I feel that in an emergancy I could stil continue in mono if need be.

Always carry 2 x Laptops , 2 x Mixers, 2x Mics and a hard drive media player, lots of cables etc.
Mostly use subs and tops but sometimes use 4 x full range speakers.
Don't take back up lighting probably have too much in the first place.

spare laptop
spare cables for everything.
I bi-amp my system so if push comes to shove one of the amps can be used for the whole lot.

I take back up of everything except speakers and lighting, just reckon if one light goes no one is bothered, mostly led these days.

I take speaker power louder than would be necessary for the venue/numbers attending so if I lose a speaker cabinet the other one/ones will be loud enough.:D

I have a backup case with twin cd, mixer & amp plus old Ohm speakers. Usually extra lighting, but not especially backups, just extras. If using LCD screens then I take a spare one. Also there is a spare external HDD in the lead box. I guess this is almost a complete system!
