MAGMA OIL WHEEL / PROJECTOR

Are they any good and do they take Optikinetics Oil Wheels, if so what size?

Many thanks.

There is only one standard size for wheels which is 6" or for other effects 3"

What type of lamp does this one use needs to be quite bright to be effective.

I was brought up using projector effects 60s and early 70s and can still be very effective to day.

Thanks for the info...

found out this info:

Features - Multi-oil colours, 2.5 rpm motor, Fan cooled,

Lamp type EFR5 15v 150watt,

Ac voltage 240v 50/60hz, Internal fuse 3.15 quick blow,

Accepts Optikinetics 575 6" effect wheels,

IEC mains connection to rear, Cool running, On/off switch to rear, Lamp saver dimmer switch, Manual focus, Lamp included, Dimensions L 285mm x W 170mm x D 159mm Weight Appx 5 kilos, Easy to change effect wheel and lamp access

Low output compared to the Optikinetics Solar 250

Lamp type: Osram Xenophot M33 24V 250W (or Iwasaki Eye) EVC.

Soundlab rebadge this but they only put in this:

Bulb Type12V 75W Type M260

I have just spotted a Martin DC3, but not sure that can take a 6" wheel.

Are there others with a brighter light source?

Thanks

I'd go for a 2nd hand Optikinetic Solar 250 - I've 10 of 'em! There's nothing else that does as good a job for oil wheels and other projections. On ebay you can pick up a good example for under £120 (I got a new one, still in it's box, with a rotator for the bargain Buy it Now price of £75 the other day).

Thanks! email sent.

I'm suprised no one has come up with a software solution for a projector.

There is they are called motion loops, there are millions of options. But you still need a video projector.

I have plenty of motion loops but none that mimic an actual oil wheel.

Someones going to tell me that there is a dvd available... :daft:
