What piece of music can you first recall as a child.

I'm about to admit something shameful...

I'll paraphrase this by saying that my parents were never into music much, and neither am I. Therefore, judge me kindly when I tell you that the first record I bought with my own money was "Super Trooper" by ABBA. Sorry.

Pinky and Perky were my earliest memories. I believe Perky got into drugs though and Pinky walked out - shame they could have been bigger than the Beatles

my earliest memory was a wind up gramaphone playing Glen Miller's in the mood on a "78" i believe it eas called big and very breakable

first track i ever brought with my own money was snoopy verses the red baron by the hotshots in 1975ish

my first record that was given to me was my fathers.to play on my bush compact record player.it was a 45 single

my first record bought with my own cash(I had a saturday job in a cycle shop) was greased lightning in 1978

I got given a little record player and some records when I was very young - I remember Tubby The Tuba and, the spookiest kids record ever, Sparky's Magic Piano!

Oh it's all coming flooding back - another record in the bundle was The Bell Boys - Giddy Up Ding Dong!

One of my first memories is David Bowie - Jean Genie on TOTP with Pan's People prancing about to it (I would've been 4 possibly 5)

Now we have to go back, back ,back to The Laughing Policeman on an old 78rpm disc and I played it on my grandmothers old gramaphone.

My first memories are of listening to my Dad's Beatles, Johnny Cash & Buddy Holly Collection.

The first 45 I played to an audience - 'Double Barrell' by Dave & Ansel Collins
at the local youth club in 1971 - (I was eleven then)
that's 6 years BEFORE Saturday Night Fever...!!

Being into chart 45's meant that the first album I bought was a while after that, it was Supertramp's, 'Crime of the Century' - 1977

My first ever 45 I bought with my pocket money Hot Love T Rex and the second was Goodbye to Jane Slade I don't think they spelt it that way though.

My first ever album was A night at the opera Queen. Still a classic to this day

After the initial nursery rhymes (3 blind mice being a particular memory!), the first song I remember from the radio was Oliver's Army by Elvis Costello and The Attractions. I was a mere lad of 3. My mam bought me the record (B-Side being My Funny Valentine) and I still have it to this day.

The first musical memory I have is being in a big hall somewhere, and 'Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas' was playing. The reason I remember it is because I can remember somehow locking myself in a toilet, and I was terrified. My mum and dad don't remember where or when this might have been though :confused:

How strange, it's exactly the same as me, even down to my grandmothers wind up HMV gramaphone. I think I wore the record out in the end, oh happy days. The first 'real' records I bought myself many years later were Soul Man by Sam & Dave, Do unto Me by James and Bobby Purify and Knock on Wood by Eddie Floyd, cost me a quid, I still have them.:)

I use this now for some Kids Parties....I play the Verse...cut the music and let them do the chorus....haven't done it for a while tho...just reminded me!!
