Cancellations due to Weather

I know this was discussed at length in January, due to the snow, but interested to find out what terms people have in place if a gig is cancelled due to weather. Does it make any difference if the client cancels or you cancel ?? What contingency plans do you have ??

Had my first cancellation last night due to weather, tonight I have one car at the end of the road and the other stuck on the drive. About to grab a spade and dig out for tonights gig :( :(

My evening finished 2 hours earlier than expected last night.

Friday and Saturday this week I Finished at 10:30 due to the sner.

Still got paid my full fee tho.

Tonights gig not on but tomorrow i am up in Rothbury for a wedding

I said in another thread I'd cancelled by mutual consent - but I've now agreed to fulfill the gig tonight - just 300 yards away but took me an hour and a half to get out my drive, and park the other end. The show MUST go on!

I've agreed with a regular hotel that I won't charge for cancellation due to snow. To be honest, even though it's a very short drive from my home, I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to get the gear there. At the minute it (seriously) looks like half a dozen trips with a wheelbarrow!!

I havent had any gigs cancelled as yet but the weather is awful here at the moment. The snow is very deep. My box trailer is like 5ft high and you can hardly see it in the snow its absolutely covered.

even digging it out wouldnt help much because the roads arent safe to tow the trailer. Luckily my mum works for her friends florist as a delivery driver. her friends lending her the van to help me get to the disco its a small citroen berlingo and probably wont get the full disco in. So its going to be 2 loads.

I have a wedding tommorow but i plan to be there in the afternoon now a few hours early to get the gear in the hotel. The hotel manager is going to let us put the gear in a smal conference room near the suite where the wedding is and im going to chill out for a while.

Wont be bringing the disco gear home after the gig. It depends on if the duty manager tommorow lets us leave the gear. or subject to me making a reservation for the night.

it would be easier to bring gear back next day

got to last nights gig ok, but about 20 of the 70 guests invited didnt.

at the end of the gig, quite a lot of the woman changed into jeans & wellies for the journey home, ive never seen that happen before

The box is a 6 x 4 x 4

6ft length
4ft height
4ft width

then the wheel base which is about another foot high. The snow is 4ft high which means the trailer is practically snowed under

Here too. The Snow has pretty much gone, apart from where it was piled up

Nothing to shout about,just turns to BLACK ICE ! 4 hours last night to do 50 miles more slippery than the ice rink i was gigging at.

Absolutely gutted that my gig is going ahead tonight. There's still loads of snow, and I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to safely get my car close enough to the house to load, or close enough to the venue to unload. I live on a very steep hill, some considerable distance from a treated road. Carry speakers for a few hundred yards over sheet ice footpaths does not sound fun! Can't believe that three groups cancelled due to the snow, the hotel called the fourth, a party of 19, who insist on going ahead. "Iceland" would you believe...

Thought about a wheelbarrow. Not sure how my insurance stands, particularly as it's just this minute started to sleet.
