which room looks a better NYE private party venue. Just thinking about the high ceilings and larger room vs. the sweatier smaller room.

Well presumably as you've posted this on the MDD, you'll be booking/holding a disco...

... so allowing for the DJ, some dancing space, tables, chairs, somewhere to stack the crates of booze and a few nibbles, that smaller room would probably max out at 20-30 guests.

So I guess it all depends who's invited! :)

I would definately say the main hall. You can then have the disco on stage with plenty of space for punters.

According to the email I received he only has 40 guests, they would be "lost" in the main hall.

you could use the small hall and get a pole dancer to come along:D
