Hiya,
I need some opinions about how to deal with an issue i'm having with djkit.co.uk
On 26 nov i called djkit.co.uk to check stock availability of some items i needed for my light setup. The guy on the phone said they had it in stocks so i went ahead and placed the order. Used paypal to make the transaction. The following day i received an e-mail saying i had to transfer the funds over bank as its an international order. I said sure and made the bank transfer to djkit.co.uk. 2 days later they changed the status of the order to "paid" instead of "awaiting payment". The order stayed like that for another 2 days before the status said "shipped". Meanwhile i received no e-mails from djkit.co.uk so i called them to learn about the shipping details. As its an international order I had to clear the items from the customs when they arrive thus shipping info info was quite crucial to me. The guy on the phone said they were packed but not shipped yet and they would inform me when its shipped. This was said on the 30th.
Since 30th i called these people 2-3 more times to check it and they kept saying it would be shipped soon but resisted giving a date for it and asked me to wait for the e-mail including shipment details which never arrived (and i doubt it will ever arrive at this point). Also some other bs went on like they claimed a few times that the transfered funds hadnt reached to them (even though their website confirms the transfer as well as the documents i got from my bank. Also they changed the item list in the order removing an item (american dj comscan 2 head pkg) and including its cost to the shipment cost etc)
At this point i dont know how to deal with this company anymore. I had ordered the lights for the xmas party and they probably wont be here on time anymore thanks to the great service of djkit.co.uk. Please help me out with ideas etc about what to do at this point...

Hi there
Well, your experience of djkit certainly doesn't match with ours!
To put your mind at ease, they aren't some 'fly-by-night' operation, and are one of the major UK online retailers and I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams that they are pulling anything 'dodgy' here.
I can understand your frustration though. They should be up front with you if there is some sort of problem.

It is worth mentioning that due to the weather around the country deliveries are badly disrupted. That added to christmas mail and parcels the system is beyond its capacity to cope.
They may have a system where they sell the item and it is shipped direct via supplier. Thi being the case they themselves may simply not know when it will arrive.
As for the paypal problem paypal was hacked 2 days ago and all servers were crashed they had to restor from backups. This may mean they are unabel to check their balance.

I mentioned in my post that i transfered the funds via bank transfer and it appeared in their accounts the same day i made the transfer (thanks to new iban requirements, senders can check the status of the transaction).
I'm not sure if the weather conditions would delay "pickment" of a parcel for over 2 weeks to be honest. Djkit claims package is still not picked from them even though website says "shipped".
Thanks in advance for the responses. I'm aware that is unusual with djkit.co.uk. I've searched through forums to see what people think about djkit.co.uk before ordering these items to them. I saw mostly positive feedbacks about this shop so i'm really puzzled with the situation i'm in now.

The bad weather started here on 25th November so it could be an issue.
Is it not possible that the lights should have been in stock on that date but supplies to DJKit had been delayed by the weather? Just a thought.

i called them just before i placed the order to ask if they had them in their stocks and placed the order after their confirmation.
just received a call from djkit.co.uk giving me some information and some relief regarding the delays. They said shipment will be finalized by next week hopefully. Will update accordingly.

Obviously djkit cannot respond directly on the forum, but I have, this afternoon, received an email from them, and here is the relevant extract therefrom:-
I have just spoken to the customer and provided all the tracking details. I also have given him my email address and said if he has any more concerns regarding the order to deal directly with me. There were a couple of contributing factors as to why the delays have taken place.
1. International money transfers take a few days to appear.
2. All equipment is tested prior to despatch to avoid any DOA scenarios.
3. Booking DPD collection and raising documentation for customs.
4. Bad weather
So hopefully, everything should now be sorted out and you should have your kit in the near future.

It's also within a period when the shipping of electronic items was being subjected to the tightest of scrutiny, following security alerts about 'suspect' packages sent by airmail.

DPD have recently a lot of flak on another forum too for their service as of late so that might of furthered the delay here.

Well, here's a totally honest opinion guys.
I have ordered from DJKit a number of times in the past. They have done me some really good deals and when I have ordered from them in the past the items have arrived the next day, no problems and everything working as it should.
BUT.....
5th November I called them up and asked if they could do me a good deal on some Mackie SRM450 V2's and an Ultimax Stand. No problem whatsoever. The guy I spoke to (Steve) was very very helpful, did me a really good deal and I went and collected them the next day. Now, as you know, I didn't use them until about a week later, was really looking forward to using them and there appeared to be a problem with one of them. Whether this was down to the slight knock they got (my hand took most of the impact), which I doubt very much I don't know. I used them on the Friday night and called on the saturday morning. They had no replacements so said they were expecting some more in shortly and I could get a replacement...simple.
I took the faulty one down to the warehouse where Greg (very helpful bloke) seemed miffed at the problem. We tested it in the warehouse and it seemed ok but it was obviously an intermittent problem or something just not right which eventually gave up because when I went to use it again the following weekend, the problem was still there. I changed leads, bought a new mixer from them too. Someone said on this forum to video the problem as backup so I did and I showed him the video I took of it not working properly.
Now, before all of this weather started getting bad, I had called them a number of times, speaking to various people. The main ones being Steve, James and Phil, all of which were very helpful indeed but it became very frustrating being told they would call me back when they never did. Each time I called I became increasingly annoyed but they totally understood.
I went backwards and forwards to the warehouse 4 times in total...a total of around 140 miles altogether. I called multiple times and emailed too. The email was never replied to. On 26th November (Friday) I went down again because the delivery that was promised for the tuesday never arrived. They leant me a pair of (slightly battered) V1's from the showroom which I was also told were hired out on a regular basis, infact they had just been returned. Now, whether I was silly not checking them I don't know but I assumed that they would be ok. I set up for a party that night and one of them was knackered...no bass at all. I was annoyed to say the least. I called them first thing saturday morning and they were gutted because they said that they had no previous problems with them. I wasn't accused of knackering them so don't think that...I just felt as if they thought I had.
Then the snow came and the delivery kept getting delayed and delayed. They eventually arrived on Monday and so I went back again, taking the hire ones with me and explaining the situation. We tested them firstly and they agreed that indeed, one was knackered. I took my playout system with me and we tested a brand new Mackie SRM450 V2 straight out of the box and it was fine. Pumped it up a bit and no problems at all so I went away in the end quite happy but I have to say, the reputation is now damaged and I am not sure if I would go back again...I probably would because they were very helpful at times and my previous experiences were good.
A couple of things though - When I went down on Monday to collect my new speaker, the warehouse guy (Greg) showed me a huge pile of returns of faulty equipment which was huge. He also showed me another 2 brand new V2's that had been returned with exactly the same problem that mine had.
It maybe bad luck on their side, it may be a TNT Driver (that's who they use) that just chucks stuff about or it may be a bad batch from Mackie?
I've used them 3 times this week and they are spot on and I am happy but do you know what? I keep checking them to see if they are working as they should be because my confidence has been knocked again big time.
Would I recommend DJKit?.....Erm...tough one that.

Although the unit you got seems a bit dodgy, Gary, it would seem that the company was as helpful as they could be (less the not calling you back bit). A company doesn't have to loan you replacement items if you return goods. As the goods you bought were brand new, they could have either a) given you an immediate replacement (which, obviously, they didn't have - but if they did have, it's likely that they'd be from the same batch and, possibly, subject to the same fault if it a faulty batch - it does happen!) or b) refund your money (using the same method of payment you used when buying so if it had been by credit card, it could well take a while for the refund to hit your card).
As for the not calling you back bit, I'm the first to admit that this is on my top ten list of poor customer service points. Saying that, however, with all these returns they've been getting they've obviously had a lot to sort out. And it's possible that you've been calling them back before they've gotten round to ringing you. To make it clear, I'm not advocating poor service, but, as a businesman, I always look at both sides of the coin and I can understand reasons that these things happen.

I never thought about delays with customs. Obvious, really, when you think about it! :bang:

Totally understand what you are saying Dazzy.
I paid them with lots of crispy £20 notes so I would have expected them back had the need for a refund come into action.
I never asked for them to hire me anything either. They offered, which I thought was really good of them. They got someone to bring down a pair from the shop to the warehouse for me as I didn't want to go up to the shop as I was stuck for time and had lots to do.
It's just a shame that the hire ones weren't tested before I took them away as in reality, it was a waste of time having them as I only used them the once, noted the problem and then left them in the house and used my JBL's.
As I said, the guys ARE helpful and my previous experiences with them have been faultless. I have been very happy with the service and despite this scenario, I would more than likely go back to them. They can't help it if something comes out of the box faulty. Why or how would they know? At the end of the day they are the middle men and if you saw the amount of stock in that warehouse you would understand that it is probably impossible to unload everything and check that it is working properly before it goes out to the customer. It may be something worth thinking about though from now on?

I've tried several DJ stores and a few have either delivered late or promised stock which didn't materialise - It's annoying - I telephone and ask them to confirm (I tell them others have let me down - it seems to do the trick)

I wouldn't order anything from djkit.co.uk from past experience they are pretty useless time wasters, I placed an order for equipment that was "in stock" waited for delivery then chased up said item, only to find that it was in fact out of stock and not being delivered as was confirmed buy reciept then waited several months for delivery and had to chase my refund which was very difficult to get.
In summary I certainly wouldn't waste my time placing an order with djkit there are plenty of other dj retailers who are far more reliable with a least some customer service.
