Hiya Lauren
what other gear are you useing with these speakers ?
what sort of jobs will you be doing?
where abouts are you?

all i can suggest is
stay away from soundlab / skytec and the crappy ebay boxes
you may be better buying a second hand pair of quality speakers
as they will be a better buy.

do you want bigger 15 inch driver speakers
can you carry them?
maybe smaller 10 or 12 inch drivers would be better for quiz nights / small parties etc

if you send more info im sure youll get some good advise here
cheers

Hello , I`me Peter , have you heard of Class D :D :D

Lauren, take no notice of the :muppet:s. There's no stock at the moment. :D :D

Seriously, you'd have to give us an idea of the type of gigs you want to do with them, and the size of cab you'd be happy with.

You give us the info, we'll give you the answers.

Also, do you already have an amp, or are you wanting active cabs, which have their own amps built into the cabs?

Just looked in my garage. Yep it looks like Knutsford in the late 90's. However, they are all working and sound good.

OHM cabs available at good second hand money regularly on fleebay as long as you can spot those that have not been battered.

have a set of peavey XT 500s & slimline KAM 540 amp going for that sort of money (have 2 speackon to jack leads that go with them) but no speaker poles.

the Xts are carpet covered and have been well used in the 5 years I have owned them. They had cones and tweeter replaced 18 months ago.

The Kam amp is still in its original box is just out off 3 year warr. but is fully working.

Up till now the above does approx 25% of my bookings, its great for upstairs and small venues - largest crowd I have used this with was about 180

but have now upgraded and its gonna go on ebay when they next hav a free listing

£200.00

am in spalding Lincs and can deliver for petrol money.

Lauren, it's even pricier if you come on here!! ( Only joking, it's an old chestnut that one. )

For that sort of budget you're only looking at s/h gear. If you're also fancying active cabs, rather than Creature's amp and passives, look for W Audio, Mackie Thump, JBL, Wharfedale or possibly Carlsbro.

Passive cabs need an amp, or you'll have silence. Whatever you need to know, ask on here before spending money, and with all sound systems:

Listen before you buy, not after

Hull eh? There are more than a couple of members on here from Hull, and I'm within range of the place. Good luck.

Sound is the most important factor and you should always spend as much as you can afford .

Tapco/mackie thumps come up now and again roughly in your budget , the active warfdale stuff is also ok , I use a set active warfedale monitors for my band and Ive never had to push them hard .

You will usually get a better deal on passive systems ( amp and speakers sepetate ) .

An important thing to remember though as a mistake most of us made when starting out - watts mean nothing , many advertise as a 1000w system and it's usually less than half . RMS is what you want to know , but if you keep scouting the likes of gumtree / eBay and ask for advice on here before you buy anything you should do ok.

Stay away from pro sound , RCL

If you want a good lightweight system look for a second hand set of peavey pr15s - you will need a good sized amp to drive them but there literally weightless yet carry 15" drivers and sound quality is pretty good.I bought a set for upstairs venues and they've been great .

Yes the fox is back

Two words - mackie and thump.
well three actually - Tapco (pretty much same thing)

Bit over your budget but worth it.

Have a look on Ebay in Jan (christmas pressies and upgrade sales).
I saw four go for £100 a piece the other day with a bit rack mixer thrown in.

10kg - light as hell and good all round output.
Independant eq and a bypass link to another speaker.

most stores will have a good range, also look up flightcase warehouse. You can get rack bags, ABS rack cases, or full edged flight cases. Look up the stores then check ebay. I needed a 2u rack case for my denon 4500 CD base unit! Picked up a pukka one off ebay for £40 full flight case in good condition with removable front / back!

Hmmmmm. Sound is king and you have a mac and a nice Denon, etc, etc but no sound.

I feel you may have invested the bulk of your pennies in the wrong place.

The Numark CDN22's have no antishock so watch for bouncy dancefloors or is going to be a rough ride. How do I know - been there with the 22's. I still have a Mk1 one going strong.
If you get some Peaveys at least you can feel assured they will act as a nice lighting effect too!!!!

haha this seems to be the case yes
about spending my money in the wrong places

however i am glad ive got good stuff instead of buying fodder
that ill have to replace all the time

im a bit worried about my cd players now though =/
i didnt notice it didnt say about anti-shock
BUT it wasnt my fault i originally ordered gemini ones that were pretty good but whybuynew.co.uk messed me about and after literally about 7 phone calls i just gave up in the end
they are crap!

is there a search thing on here as to how to find people in the same area as you?
that would be handy wouldnt it! =]

There's a healthy social network in Hull, and once you've made the acquaintance of a couple of them, you'll not be short of contacts. ;) ;)
