can't have this thread and not mention

Strike me pink lads, I can't believe nobody's mentioned Bat out of Hell yet.  Couple of venues I used to work, you could nearly play both sides of that and do half the night with it! :D :D Throw in some Quo, and you had a full evening. :D :D :D :D :D :D

When I ran as Highway Star, Deep Purple -Made in Japan was de rigeur.

Led Zep II and IV got a lot of play, and David Bowie -Aladdin Sane also did.

More later if I can remember.

Referring to the OP, is it albums which were fashionable to own, or just the best albums around at the time?

Ian Dury - New Boots & Panties

George Benson - Breezin

Bit of both really , even guys and gals who were into motown and main stream pop in the early days often had what IMHO was a classic , like what has been posted .

The Who - live at Leeds

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Led Zepplin ( 1 ,2 ,3 or 4 :D )

Abba - Gold

New Boot & Panties - indeed a classic.
Many years ago I worked in a well known high street stores record department. One busy Saturday morning I heard the opening refrain of Plaistow Patricia on the shops system - it went
:Censored: :Censored: :Censored: :Censored: 'screeeeeeeeech'
as I dove across the counter and knocked the needle off the record!

I do like these kind of threads and I've asked this question to many friends

One additional stipulation of course is 'Best of' albums are not allowed and I am glad most of you are adhering to that :D

The fashion album of my day was Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms

But we used to listen to all sorts ....

- Paul Simon - Graceland
- Pet Shop Boys - Actually
- Nirvana - Nevermind

But if you want a truly great album from me it has to be

The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation

It keeps me locked in from start to finish and there aren't many albums that do that as there is always a duff track somewhere.

Wow - pretty left-field that one - good album on its own merits though

one I've just thought of, and i know it's relatively modern and not thought of as a Too Kool for Skool 'classic' but;

Moby - Play

-INXS - Kick

Great Album Marky

Ah. I appear to have misinterpreted the aim of the thread. I assumed we were talking about a disco environment, rather than personal. :o :o No problem, how about a much overlooked one, Fog on the Tyne-Lindisfarne?

Mr Wild, I was tempted to say that your musical taste was crap, but since that would be impolite, I'll settle for saying that it's totally at odds with mine apparently. :D
