I spent a bit of dosh yesterday at All Saints and I went to return one of the items today as it was the wrong colour.

They won't give me a refund but a credit note - which is completely useless to me!

I know they aren't breaking the law but they should have a sign on display stating their policy?

£60 down the drain - I won't be going there again! :Censored: :Censored:

I imagine they did have a sign Charlie.

It's standard practice at most clothing stores isn't it? I'm not sure - I hate shopping!!

I was going to say, I'll take it off your hands for you!

Until you said you already sold it :p

Still looking for a present for my brother! :p

If they were happy to take it back were you obliged to accept a credit note.
I realise that 'it's the wrong colour' is not a good reason but I would have insisted that I wanted my money back.

why not just exchange it for the right colour?

I didn't want it any more...the sign was so small it's silly.

I've never come across it. I think it's really wrong tbh.

Simple question,

Why did you buy the wrong color in the first place lol :sofa:

No, they weren't really the wrong colour - I just didn't want them anymore.

Changing your mind about something is not a valid reason to return it, you were lucky they offered you a credit note as they really didn't have to do anything at all for you.

And they don't need to have any sign up regarding this, it's up to you to know the law, as they say ignorance is no defence.

Direct Gov says differently.

By law, they must have a sign of their returns policy.

Most shops have a good faith policy to make shopping easier and to entice consumer back. I won't be shopping at that store again.

A lot of places are the same. If there's nothing wrong with it, they won't give you a refund - only a credit note.

Put it into a different situation Charlie.

A customer books you and pays the NRBD and then decides they like the look of another DJ's show and don't want you any more. They come to you and say "I don't want you any more" ..... are you an 'idiot' (as you've called them) for not giving them a full refund?

It's probably me then!

I just haven't come across this in my whole 17 years of being on this mighty planet. :D

What a sheltered life you have led so far young Charlie. I can see that even with those older and wiser on here guiding your footsteps on the road to wisdom, it's going to be a long and arduous journey.;) :D

I have to aggree with Angela on her "Situation", would you give a full refund if they didn't like your booth with no starcloth/curtain which showed all the wires etc ?

Clothing is different IMO to services.

So you bought on impulse, changed your mind, went back to the shop, spun them some lie about the item being the wrong colour and then expected to be treated preferentially? Time you started to grow up!

The shop is incredibly dark (seriously) and the jeans looked completely different when I got home. I didn't try them on and have always managed to get a full refund when I have taken clothes back.

Unless goods are faulty, the retailer has no obligation to accept a return. A credit note is not necessarily the best in terms of keeping customer loyalty but it is a fair outcome.

:agree: with that.

If they returned the jeans and gave me my cash back, I'd return to the shop. I won't be going there again now.

i bet you would, so now you want them to give you the jeans and give you your money back because you don't like the colour (i think you typed that wrong mate), why not change your bedroom lighting to the same as the shop you will like them again then:D :p

you might want to reread what you just agreed with charlie, paulg said it was a fair outcome, look at in terms of a disco, if someone books you and then changes their date, do you refund the deposit or keep the money , fairest thing (if possible)is to use the deposit against the new date(if you are available) that way everyone is happy. remember it's not there fault you didn't look at the colour close enough is it, surely you should of took the credit note and went back in the sales rather then give the item away for £20 less:beer1:
