Not sure how else to phrase it, maybe the best way is by example.

I was a fair wat through my childhood before I realised the words of the song weren't "Maybe it's big horse I'm a Londoner"

Anyone else have similar tales?

I've just been reminded of another one. I don't think many folk will get it, unless you've seen the Grumbleweeds.

Boney M- Brown girl in the ring. The line is " Show me emotion ".

And...........

In 'I Am What I Am' there's a line that goes 'And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle' , for years I thought it went ' And so what if I love beach ball ball band bidge bangle'.

When the young lady came back asking i hadnt played her record yet, she also retorted......"Its Number 1".

You know those drinks cups you get from McDonalds, and the little bit on the plastic lid they press to show if the drink is diet or not? As teens, the Wife had her friend convinced that if you ordered a coke, and pressed the little plastic bit on the lid, it would turn the soft drink into a diet drink.

Crazy the stuff some people will believe. :daft:

I have no recollection of this, but have been reliably informed that when I was a youngster I threw a bit of a tantrum because I wasn't allowed to stay up past my bedtime to watch my favourite programme - On The Buses. Eventually, after kicking up such a fuss, I was allowed to sit on the sofa in my pyjamas and wait for it to start. Apparently I watched 5 minutes of Omnibus before getting up and going straight to bed without a word!
