Christmas Eve.

I was working at Sutton Fields Tavern. A Marstons pub which i live near I do all the discos for them as a sideline to my other work and do so many discos a year for them.

Over the last week i havent been very well at all. I've had no energy what so ever. Ive got flu at the moment my voice has broke so i can hardly talk and with me having flu ive been suffering from a lot of nose bleeds as well this week.

Christmas Eve i contacted my roadie to tell him what time we was going and he didnt even bother to turn up. The christmas eve gig. I couldnt cancel it because that would be letting them down. I couldnt get cover. So again the show had to go on. I had to do it. In and Out of the toilets a few times with my nose.

ten minutes into the gig. The signal indicator on my active sub stopped lighting up but there was still bass and could hardly turn the sub up without it hitting red.

Christmas day. Spent most of the day in bed feeling absolutely terrible. Woke up this morning feeling even worse so spent nearly all in day in bed again today.

For Christmas.

I just got some Hull City Adidas training wear, some deodrant aftershave, A light coloured Rockport Polo Shirt and money

Christmas here hasnt been too great because ive not able to enjoy it as much with me been in bed.

How was christmas for everyone else? I hope everyone had a good christmas

Sorry to hear that John, but not amazed. You looked like Death warmed up when I saw you. :(

Never fear about your sub, I'll shove an extra half dozen Class D's in the van to compensate. See you New Year's Day. :D

Cheers guys.

As with the sub It could just be one of the XLR cables with the sub. If not i can send the sub back because its still under warranty and get it repaired.

I had tickets to go to Bramall Lane boxing day to see my Sheffield United vs Hull City (my team) but in the end unfortunately i couldnt go. But i saw the highlights on TV. Sheffield United 2. Hull City 3 :D :D very happy with that score.

Took some of the ole Beechams Powder and a hot glass of lemonade to see how it goes.

Definetely will see you New Years Day Peter. Drinks all around. Anyone else want to come along.

Ive got a disco/karaoke tonight for a client ive done a few jobs for them. I did the ladys daughters 21st Birthday in 2005 at the KC Stadium in Hull in one of the premier suites with over 200 people turning up. What a 21st Birthday gig to remember that was and all for the right reasons.

Its her Mums turn tonight she's 50 and celebrating her birthday. Another big turnout expected she's told me already 200+

Disco & Karaoke for this one.

Only problem is my voice at the moment. I can play what music they want but my voice isnt up to the mic work at the moment. Because i can hardly speak.

So ive got another local dj coming with me for this one who's going to do the mic work and ill play music and setup the karaoke songs.

I'm in the same boat, John.

Kids and ex have all been quite ill with the flu over the last week or so. I went up on Christmas Day to spend time with the kids and see them with their presents. However, my daughter and youngest son were really quite poorly and their presents are still largely unopened. I ended up staying the night to help out with looking after them through the night. Didn't get much sleep but when I did wake up on Boxing Day I was pretty ill myself (damn you, flu virus!!!). I ended up getting a taxi home as I didn't have the strength to walk to the bus stop and I've been in bed since. I took beechams powders last night and woke up to a bed filled with sweat and blood (nose bleed) but, up to now, no tears!

As far as Christmas presents go, I got a new digital camera which doesn't actually work so it'll be returned as soon I'm fit enough to take it back!

Does anyone bother to get flu injections or is it best to suffer

After a particulary nasty dose of real flu (as opposed to 'man flu') back in 1999, I get myself an injection against it yearly. Supprisingly it seems to protect against 'man flu' too, I can't understand why so many don't bother, they've probably never had propper flu

People need educating.

Where do I get this jab from? How much is it?

I get mine free these days (dodgy heart), but anyone can get them privately for around £20 (google it)

I think I have got a way without catching anything properly, towards the end of last week my voice was getting a bit crokey but its fine again now. the Wife and Son both have Flu pretty bad.

Christmas day came and went, I ended up doing the Christmas dinner, the lad was going to do it but with being ill he cried off last minute.

Work has been pretty kayos, I had the 8th Dec and 24th off and of course Christmas night. Don't think I did myself any favours by refusing point blank to do Christmas eve for one of my residencies though, it was for the coach parties and I have done it for the past few years but TBH they don't really need a DJ, I told the GM of the hotel to get them a piano player instead. I have tonight off and then its all go till my next night off on 3 Jan. The Weddings have been a bit of a let down from the wild Christmas parties...last night was supposed to be for 130 and about 65 turned up. The last Christmas party before Christmas was on the 23rd and that was for a large company, I put in a big turbo Sound rig and desk to control the whole thing and we had a brilliant girl singer and a 13 piece party band called Spitting Feathers, it was an amazing night and finished it all off well. Got a fair few post Christmas parties in Jan though.

I fell asleep after Christmas lunch and woke up again at about 9pm. I had some CDs, jumper, bow ties, rum, Joop and a white metal 1/43 scale model of an Austin A55 Cambridge to add to my collection.

I had the more square A60, think the A55 has more character though. There's a chap who is a bit of an enthusiast in the next unit to me, he has an A55, 1936 Bentley 4.5 that was bought brand new by his grand father and an old riley open top, he uses them for hire too, interesting to talk to in the summer when we are both doing jobs outside.

My A55 was that model. ( pic 1 )The difference was the A55 had a 1489cc motor, the A60 had the benefit of a 1622 cc motor. :D And then, just to confuse things, there was also an A60 in the old shape. I had one like pic 2.

Sorry to hear of your woes John. There is a lot going around and my wife was not so good over Christmas either.

Otherwise its been lovely with our new little addition, who this time last year we would not have put money on having following a couple of major dissapointments (which is an understatement).

What did I get.

New 12kg Kettle Bell to add to my Gym.
A new multi position dumbell bench to add to my Gym.
Some new disks to increase my dumbell weight - for my gym.
Theme coming on there.

I have had three weeks off the gym following 12 months of losing 1 stone in weight, but more importantly going from a 36 inch waist to a 32 inch waist and jacket size down from 42 to 40. This year its hit the 300 workout hard.

I did get a book and some cuff links and a tie too. Oh and a nice new shirt.

Hope you are feeling better soon John.

The 55 was 1957-59 and my 60 was more square and a 1960 but it was old and knackered when I had it in the mid seventies...can't really remember but thought it had a 1500 engine, I know it used to chuck out smoke and I was lucky to get 70 out of it.
