Do People Understand

Last night I was working in a big nightclub which is my Saturday night residency and a fine looking young lady came and approached me in the DJ booth.

She was after the new song my Matt Cardle which I kindly explained was too slow and I cannot play it in a club situation. She then explained that her boyfriend was a really good singer and that if I had the backing track he would sing it.

I told her I don't have a backing track and this is a leading chain nightclub and we don't do Karaoke. She then asked me where to find the manager as apparently she knew him. I told her Jon the manager would be on the front reception desk if you want to speak to him but he will tell you the same as me.

10 minutes later she came storming back telling me that Jon had said yes he can sing. I was now thinking this is odd so a quick text message to Jon and he replied with "No way mate, I have told her 3 times already".

So I was faced with a customer who simply lied to my face, I carried on working and she made her way into the DJ booth. I asked her to leave twice and she refused until her boyfriend could sing. More fool her really for doing so because our security team were on hand and removed her from the venue.

It really gets me why people have to be so selfish and want what they think is right.

After that though I had a blinding night in the club and I can't wait for NYE!

Didn't work though did it, bit of a snotty answer imo, probably making her more determined to get her own way. Although what she wanted was never going to happen, the young lady, under the influence of a few sherberts is convinced in her own mind it is going to.

On Friday no end of drinks came hanging over my side of the booth and were carefully pushed back before I would even speak to them.
"When you remove the drink from my booth you can then make a request", were my words. To be honest the folks were cool with it.

Just remembered, some girls wanted to do shout outs on my mic to their friends saying they knew the boss. I told them no and something semi-witty over the mic like 'even sexy miss santas dont get to use my microphone' ... to whoch they shouted 'BORING', but soon got over it ;-)

That is my point exactly, In the club scene you have to be a little more harsh with customers as like you said it is a lot more hectic.

I do have a lot of fun in the clubs though!

I am friends with the manager out of work and it is always handy to have his mobile number to just drop a quick text to find out finishing times as we finish at either 4am or 5am depending how busy it is in there.

I'm doing a Karaoke Night and what people won't give for their three minuites of FAME:eek: :eek:


If they get the tiniest ripple of applause they'll be wanting to do six more each and get jarred off when I tell them no!!!;) ;) ;)


There are no bounds to the General Publics rudeness when they have had a few jars.Very often I see the same people next morning and they can't remember a thing about it.

It really isn't fair.I think you handled it splendidly....maybe if we all did the same with persistently awkward(as I suspect she is) customers they would get the message.Well done!!:) :) :) :) :) :)
