I don't have much luck with companies.

I spent £230 with this company for Mums Christmas present: http://www.londontheatrebreak.com/ and it appears to be very fishy.

When I made the booking, the lady confirmed on two occasions that the hotel was a 7 minute walk from the theatre. (Days Hotel - Waterloo)

A quick Google search tells me that it's a 30 minute walk.

Anyhow, after sending two emails and making three phone calls...a lady finally calls me back. Why would you call clients at this time of night? (8.00pm) There was a baby crying in the background and I could hear a man shouting.

She was very rude and abrupt and merely said, I can change the hotel to somewhere nearer, for an additional £65. It's a better room but without breakfast.

I explained I had been misled and sold a package which isn't any good. I wouldn't have placed the booking had I of known it was a 30 minute walk!

She said 'I don't really want to discuss this now. You can either pay the £65 fee or not. If you leave it any later than the 30th December, there will be additional chargers for changing location/cancellation.'

I said 'I'm not parting with any money ATM. I want to seek legal advice from my local Trading Standards first, because what you've done is illegal.'

She said 'Fine call them' and hung up!

Now I don't know what to do. :(

Seriously, everything I bloody do goes wrong.

Firm letter to them, then trading standards. Or if paid by credit card go to them first to get the money back. You can also ring consumer direct for advice on thie (service of trading standards) without actually reporting them or anything.

Firstly Waterloo is south of the river and the west end north. Secondly Days is a budget hotel and anyone using hotels regular will know this.

However, The hotel seems okay from pictures and is fairly modern. It is 200m from a tube and give me a sec, Yeah as I though, Waterloo is on the Northern Line, which drops you at Charing Cross or Leicester Square, so near enough for the west end. Or you can pick up Bakerloo to Picadilly Circus.

So it will be okay young man.

There are some cracking offers to be had. You kind of expect a few flaws..if that makes sense?

I never buy Mum presents so was pretty excited about giving her this...especially after a 'not so great year'.

I put four envelopes around the tree.

Mum had to open the first one...it was a picture of a theatre mask and a '+' sign.

The second envelope Steve opened, which was a picture of london with another '+' sign.

Then mum opened one with an image of two beds and an '=' sign.

The tickets were in the final envelope.

yea that puts me to shame, i did buy the wife a packet of love hearts
charlie next year put these ideas up before xmas might keep some of us out of the dog house(although i'm not in it really:) but i was the year i bought her bed socks:D )
