Not a Taxi

Hi people, hoping you are all well.

Just wanderd how many people on here that use a people carrier when doing gigs get mistaken for a taxi. a few times when i have been going through towns on the way home in the early hours i get people trying to flag me down, they see a Ford Galaxy coming along the road and think that i must be a cab.:D

I had that happen many times years ago when I used to do adult events.

I have a Chrysler Voyager and I would be asked to take somebody somewhere especially when loading up after a party, and I could have made a killing at some venues!!!

We use a white Seat Alhambra now, but did have the Ford Galaxy til it died a miserable and painful death!. People often thinks it's a taxi after gigs or try to flag us down in the street. The good thing is that we generally, but not all of the time, use a different exit to the guests so we are out of the way of people crowding doors, etc. Makes life much easier!

Could get the vehicle sprayed black if it isnt already and charge them black cab prices. Extra income on top of djing. go to a print shop and get a couple of stickers to put on the side and bobs your uncle.

Im sure we could all make a good living from it I know I've been asked many times, especially when leaving the venues I have often taken all 5 seats out to keep the weight down and when they see none they soon get the message unless they're slightly drunk and think its ok to lie down on top of the kit. When I've travelled light and left the middle row of seats in they think they can fit into the kids car seats!

Last Christmas I had wished I was a taxi (for the radio) when someone tried to car jack me! fortunately I had left all my kit at the venue, and a paramedic car passed nearby on a treble 9 call, which I think spooked them as the 2 cars tried to stop me.

I've never been mistaken for a taxi, but a few year ago I had a white Jeep. People used to drive very carefully around me late at night.

I have a private hire licence as i do a minibus school run for a taxi firm, but my own car has not got a private hire plate on it and it would be a bit dodgy because it is illegal to pick some one up who has not booked via a cab office, infact you not insured if you just get into a mini cab without booking it at their cab office.:(
