Quick question

I have since the launch of my new and shiney web site been receiving some web enquiries - Hurrah for me.

However, despite putting together detailed responses no one has ever come back to me. Even when I have outlined where I would benefit from more detail, like the venue.

Is this common with everyone else?

Ive seen Brides leave it 6 months before getting back into contact.

Ive about a 50% conversion rate, and the %)% that i dont get, never bother even replying back ;)

Yes. People will fish around and save your details.

All depends on your site really. I find a phone call back or text works well.
It would surprise the likes of any other DJ's fishing for quotes too.

Even when they only left an e-mail address and request e-mail response only?

Not really bothered by other DJ's fishing for quotes. Its not that hard to work out our pricing and it is well in line with the region.

No they aren't local quotes and are spreading around a lot from the lakes to Chester to Manchester, etc.

Do you know a phrase about travel, things that have gone before, and men's chest coverings? ;)

I have not yet converted one web, goodparty, or association enquiry. :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

The only one I have got came when someone whose wife's 40th I'd done suddenly remembered the name Excalibur, and found me from the website, to do his 50th. Ah well. :D :D

Sounds like you need to put together an all-encompassing template email response that you can quickly twiddle to match the enquiry.

I spent quite some time putting one together with lots of duplicate paragraphs covering different types of events, brief info on upgrades and extras and the all-important "From:£xxx" pricing, last of course.

Then, with less than a minute's tweaking to fit the enquiry, it would be away. No need for head-scratching because it would already be there, just a case of whittling it down to suit.

My conversion rate was well over 80%, but as others have said, sometimes it can take a while for a response to arrive. It's definitely worth a chaser after about a week along the lines of 'Hope you received my quote...', '... if there's anything else I can help with... ' etc.. Occasionally you can try the 'we've had another enquiry for the same date and wanted to give you first refusal' trick if it's something you want definite direction on.

If you want to put a couple of hours into building the template I'll happily run my eye over it for you.

The key things it must convey are the fact that you'd be delighted to be their DJ on their special day, how you know and love their choice of venue and to give them some indication of price based on the information (albeit limited) that you have.

If your pricing is wide-ranging then I'd tend to state that "a 4-hour evening disco at XX venue usually costs around £xxx" (or whatever), further reinforcing the 'we know your venue' card (brides love this) ... even if you've so far only Googled it :sofa:

My conversion rate is about 75%.

As others have said, people come back months later.

Are you offering a meet? Have you tried to contact them via phone a week later? Do you send them a prompt email a few days later?

I wish i had a 75% conversion rate. Unfortunately im too expensive for the bulk of my local market ;)

As you've said yourself it's a brand new site. Martin built my site as well and it's now really going in the right direction. Well pleased, but it takes time.

All good things to those who wait and what have you?:D :D

Strange old day.

NYE rebooked and accepted a 10% price increase. Must have been good.
December now fully booked out - not a single slot left - Corporate booking from the Championship football club we did work for earlier last year.

Who needs a web site :-) . Only joking they are the fruition of some very hard work over the last couple of years. The web site will just broaden our horizons.

Martin - Agreed I think I will draft a template to save me time and ensure I am covering everything the way I want to each and every time.

Cheers

Adding to this, I'm having my fair share of...

...idiots who get their email addresses wrong.. had 3 bounce back yesterday.

...and further down the rung on the idiot ladder, people who write "email only please" in the phone field and then get the email address wrong so you have no way of contacting them!!

I have took the contact form off my sites for this very reason. At least when someone emails you you have an address for them,

I did have a chuckle the other day at someone who put their phone number in their postcode field in their GoodParty listing - shame more people don't do that!

This is true, however one of my sites does publish an email address and I only ever get vague enquiries or emails where you can see they've sent it to about 10 other companies at the same time!

Is something wrong here, my quote request form set up by Marc J---see below--- gives me the email of the person asking for the quote--I must be missing something here:confused:

Even if they dont know their own email address--I do;)

?

The testimonials are hanging out of the bottom of the page and that can be painful.

I chase up enquiries 7-10 days after sending and keep chasing till i get a rply of some sort.

The problem is that because they're filling it out on your website, what comes through on the submission is whatever they've typed in the form, so if they get it wrong or a typo then you don't actually have their correct address. That's just the way it is with any online contact form, you are relying on them getting their own details right. All you can do is ask for alternative contacts (address, phone etc) and hope they get at least one right if others turn out to be wrong.

The form I set up for you can go a little way to stop these errors by checking if the bit after the @ on the email address is a registered domain, which would alert the submitter if they entered [email protected], for example. But there are disadvantages to doing this, too.

The feedback page looks ok from here and i like the way the thank you letters stack on top of each other, cool.
