Rig frontage

Received it this morning and bloody hell, what a fantastic bit of cloth! Its perfect for frontage and at that price, you'd be silly not to have it.

Its flame resistant, its a heavy material (not too heavy) and hangs really well, if cared for - could last years.

Just thought I'd share with you!

I'm confused now...

It says on the listing that it's 152cm wide (61" wide) and sold by the metre, so I'd assume that if you would get something that is 152cm wide by 1 metre tall?

Again, sorry. I was looking at it as though I was buying it for a frontage. The length would need to be longer than the height, that's why I flipped the figures around.

61 inches is 1.5m. Which is the width, and yes then you pay for it by the metre in height essentially.

Do you get me? Think I've confused myself now though!

The only issue you may have with that (cotton canvas) is that it might not travel too well (ie folded up) and be a so-and-so for creasing!

Which is why it's probably a good idea to roll it, and if you have an old cardboard tube left over from pressie wrapping, use that in the middle to stop one end getting too 'flappy'.

Darren, if I'm right, I believe that the fabric is on a roll 1.52m wide, therefore you can buy it what ever length you want 1m, 2m, 3m long.If you bought it 3m long you would have a piece of cloth 1.52m high and 3m long. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected. :o :zip:

That's what I did a couple of years ago, went along to Dunelm's, asked for some "blackout cloth" which came on a roll 1.5m width and bought a length 4m long. Hemmed the bottom of the cloth, used a length of curtain weights, put velcro on the top to attach to my deckstand and some velcro tabs at the ends which wrap around my speaker stands and now I've got a cloth that covers the whole frontage of my rig neatly and it hangs tautly with no snags. Total cost no more than £20.:D :D :D

I've even made a smaller one for my Mini deckstand, cost £8.00 approx

Yep for not a lot more you could have got some black wool serge material which seems to be a bit more roadworthy and crease resistant.

CPC are good for sticky-backed velcro too (if you want a bit more of it than that. From memory, it comes in 5m rolls)

Just bought 10m from Ebay. The trouble is with CPC is the 'handling charge' if you are just buying a couple of cheap items.

Very true.

The other thing that's worth mentioning, whilst the sticky-backed stuff works well on hard surfaces (eg the metalwork), it does tend to peel off fabric rather easily (due to the fact that all fabric has some nap to it), so I always use fabric glue (which doesn't go brittle, is clear, and can even be washed) to give it a helping hand.

must admit to being a typical bloke here...... i use small spots of super glue and believe me it stays in place
