Bit of help please please please

Right how do i explian this, I work in a members club and our system is a new permanent installation by the other dj who thinks he knows it all, we have a pair of PEAVEY EUROSYS 3 pointing one way but because our lights are behind the speakers and the lights are sound to light so to fix this i said move the speakers down the hall and turn them around to project the sound back down the hall at the lights but instead he desided to fix 2 x max 20watt household speakers to the back of the main speakers, they are solded into the jackplug of the main ones. so now when we have a function we cant go any lounder than just over a quarter all round anything over it starts to distort
so what do u guys think im only amerture so this cant be healthy can it??

that don't sound good to me, I will leave the more technical guys to explain a bit more, why do you want to move the speakers down the hall and face the other way, surely the lights that are sound to light will pick up enough sound to work the way it is, if not have the sensitivity switch been turned down too much. if it is for you to hear better from behind the decks then what is required is a monitor speaker out of the monitor socket of the mixer

BLIMEY!!!!!. Without seeing the venue, or rig, I would suggest that the best course of action is to rip the small cabs off the Peaveys, stick the soldering iron somewhere on said "Expert" where the sun doesn't shine, and then buy a small amp to run the small cabs, rather than piggyback them into the Peaveys. There must be a line out/rec/booth somewhere on your mixer, to feed it with and then stick the small cabs near your lights. Simples. :D

i do appologise i do not have 2 accounts on here i have a fellow dj with me today and was showing him this great forum and all the handy info so he registered on here as well but when i replied i forgot to log him out so obviously it came out on his new account sorry for the confusion.:o

what he is trying to say is that when we had our new install carried out, the main reason was the hall is very large 150+ seating and we were loosing lots of bookings for smaller functions. So our hall has a sliding partion wall so instead of having two seperate discos we can run everything from one location. In our old location the dance floor was in front of the disco followed by a seating area and then the bar, but now when the sliding wall closes to make a small hall our new dance floor becomes made from part of the seating area. Now the complex bit we have 4 big speakers at the far end where the old disco was to feed the large hall with a selection of lights in the large dance floor area. When we close to the small hall we use the peavys but these are mounted slightly ahead of the new dance floor area and infront of the lights which is creating a small issue of not controlling the sound to light function. So my suggestion was to turn them around and move them slightly down the hall, but instead they have mounted small home (I would not even use them on my pc lol) to the side of the peavys and wired them into the jack plugs that feed the peavy. That is why i asked the question on the thread and why irresistable was trying to answer to the venue layout. Hope this helps.

If you could email me a couple of pic of the room and a very rough room layout, I'll have a look at the whole lot for you and give you the best option to go down.
