Well there are hundreds! Budget would be a good idea so it narrows down the search.

How many channels are you looking for? Does it have to be xlr out? Mic input type? The more details the better.

Does it need to be rackmountable?

If your buying new and you will need 19 inch rack mounted check out the Numark range or S/H Dennon.

I'm struggling to think of one. Plenty with an xlr and a jack but not two xlr.

I wonder if he means mic inputs or master out,any way the Studiomaster Fusion has both ,but quite easy to convert jack to xlr .

but quite easy to convert jack to xlr .Are you talking about an adaptor lead, or changing the socket thus voiding the warranty?

That was my reading of the post, two mic inputs, Since mic tend to be XLR.

But not as big as the one I was going to suggest, just for mischief. ;) :D

It's the way I did mine.

This might be a stupid question then, why not just use a jack to XLR lead & cut out the adaptor from the equation?

Either a lead or a converter, yes it is big but is a nice unit i use a couple on hire when the client wants to do karaoke and disco.Sound Lab do a copy.

It was a stupid question Steve, but since it's you, I'll let you off. :D :D :D

I do not connect directly into the mixer with my cables, but have the connectors which I use on the back of the case, and fly leads to them. When I constructed the Mk7 case, I did indeed use an XLR to jack lead, but since it didn't work for some reason, I went back to the adaptor. It doesn't really make a lot of odds to me, but your suggestion is in fact the best option if you routinely firkle around in your case to plug everything in.

When I make the final mods to the case, I'll post piccies, which will make it clear.

Why waste £250 on something crappy when you could save a little and have something splendid? :p

Indeed, but noris has just laid out for an MEP, not everyone has unlimited funds & it may be a case of fitting it into an existing case alongside the MEP. In which case we'll need to know the maximum size it can be before suggesting whatever.

Spoilsport. ;) I seem to remember the MEP isn't exactly tiny, either, so space may indeed be at a premium.

Yes i have the mep as everyone knows its not cheap so i can’t now go and get a mixer for 1k as i still would like to get some speakers

I already have a mixer which has 2 xlr for mics but it’s not that new so it doesn't have a corssfader on it

I say around £250 but could go to £400 but that would be tops again £400 new could be worth around £600 used off ebay so i should be able to get something pretty good for that

I want the two xlrs for karaoke yes i guess you could use jack but not as good all my leads are xlr

Thanks for everyones help

Well if you want a mixer for karaoke, you really are best served getting a "live" mixer, with effects, rather than a DJ mixer.
This may blow your budget out of the water, but ideally you'd want something like a Denon x-500 with a Behringer FX type as well, for karaoke.

A single quality mixer, with effects, suited to your needs ? Tricky.

Thanks for that

Karaoke is not goin to be the main thing but if someone wants to sing it would be nice if it had a few effects

how about getting a dj mixer and puttin an effects unit up to it which i already have what do you think to that

Get XLR to 1/4 inch jack adaptors , or new leads maybe (XLR one end , 1/4inch jack at the other ?)
Having everything connected with XLRs may feel nice and look good , but having a balanced mike feed is not really too important unless your cable runs are very long.

You're gonna be hard pushed to find a mixer with a crossfader (DJ type) that has a bunch of XLR mike inputs (like on a PA , or LIVE mixer).

Have you considered getting a microphone mixer / combiner >>>>
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/G105DA-Soundlab-4-Channel-Stereo-Microphone-Mixer-/130475616607?pt=UK_Mixers&hash=item1e60f3e95f and plugging it into the mike input on a DJ mixer.

Or see if you can lay your hands on a Vocopro DA 1050PRO.
I bought one a couple of years ago and it's served me very well.

Thats why i suggested the Studiomaster Fusion just what Norris described 3 mic channels with effects 4 way eq video out and a 4 channel disco mixer with x fader suits the remit perfect and in budget.

I'm not familiar with the item, but I did indeed think that it fitted the bill well. So does the mixer I used to use, the KAM KAP 1500, but after reliability issues, and the huge increase in sound quality after changing to a Denon, I could not recommend it.

Better than the Denon but a bit behind any Pioneer.I can not praise the Fusion to much ,i have two in the hire stock and they have been perfect 3 mics with assignable effects to each channel and a full spec dj mixer even has curve pot on the crossfader and really good eq,you should know Darren i would not suggest any kit unless i had used or owned it,how people can post on speakers they have never owned or used beats me.

I wasn't impressed with the quality (sound, not build). When you consider how much they've rammed into it for the price they sell it at, it does seem to good to be true. But... each to their own :)

Better than the Denon but a bit behind any Pioneer.I don't find there's an awful lot between the DN-X500 and DJM3000, but again, in my opinion, they're both audibly superior to the Fusion.

The DJM3000 has more bells and whistles obviously, but I don't think it sounds any better. In saying that, I've only used it in clubs and bedrooms (:o), and not with my own setup.

What I do find is that when you're running close to maximum output on them, the DN-X500 doesn't distort when you really push it. Not that you should be doing that anyway, of course! :)

Would you consider Allen&Heath? Thats a great sounding mixer.

I find Allen&Heath have concentrated more on the sound quality and Pioneer have gone more down the gizmo's and gadgets route.

I have used the Xone 92 and 62 on a couple of occasions and the faders were very smooth, but I thought there was way too much on them for what I required. Hard to tell about about the sounds as I only used them a couple of times and it was a while back.

The S4 came out just after I bought the DJM3000 and to be honest would have been more useful as the effects on the Pioneer are pretty pointless as if I do use effects I use them on the software rather than hardware.
