OMG Phone calls from suppliers of websites directory listings

I'm new to the business have set up a very basic website through google in association with get British business on line, I have also set up a couple of ads through free classified listings sites.

have just spent 25 mins to a nice man from yell.com telling how much business they can bring me in for £40 a month on top of the nice call from the lady at BT telling me what they could do to my website for £400 a year i have to say when the business is in the infancy that is cant they just accept that no means no.

I've had the same the past few days - having my ear chewed off by people trying to sell me advertising, Stop them early and tell 'em you're not interested, and that if you want to buy any of their services YOU'LL CALL THEM.

They still probably won't listen, but it's worth a shot.

Yell tried to tell me that for £40 a month (plus VAT) I'd be guaranteed 8 calls a month...So i'm paying £5 for each phone call?...no thanks lol

this is the reason I never answer my phone and have not until now published my number.
Email is such an effective way of communication as you will have to check calendars etc.

i hate having to justify my prices over the phone (unless I call them and know exactly where when and what before).

I would rather meet clients face to face.

As for people trying to sell something they can do one. :(

TPS & CTPS work wonders.

Even if they disregard the regulations and still phone you, they can't disappear quick enough if you mention that you're registered with them ;)
