Playlist Vs Ipod dilemma

As with all our bookings we always provide our clients with a playlist form. Took a booking a couple of weeks ago for a birthday in February, she emailed me and said that the sheet which has room for 50 songs was not big enough and if it would be easier just to plug her ipod in as all the music was on there she wanted playing.
I replied saying that it was possible but if she forwarded a list I would advise what we had got and also to get an idea of their music taste. The following list arrived by email.....OMG!!!!
I have attached the list for you to look at......Guess Wham is out the question!

how long is the function.............. a week and a half :D

not really up for plugging somebody else's i-pod into my system,as you have no idea of the quality of the songs.

best bet make a playlist of all the tracks,play the more obscure stuff as background and then pick the best of whats left for later.

Is this an 18th Birthday? ... looks like a good playlist to me, just stick to te more well known tracks that will get everyone up rather than the birthday girl dancing on her own in the middle of the floor!

Well the contracted time is 7.00pm start and 2.00am finish but its also a Sunday nite so wether it will go on that late.
On my calcalation there is about 10 hours playing time there minimum.
Trying to sort into a playing order of some sort, still cant find a space for Wham though :)

Thats why I asked for the list, I will try and avoid plugging someone else's Ipod in, you never know what can happen especially with DJ Rankin and DJ Cammy around :(

Probably could, will look at what will mix and what wont and do a bit of a plan and then just hope for the best I suppose lol :daft: and if still confused then have more :beer1:

I had a booking recently where the client sent me a 7.5 hour playlist of R&B.
Not my favourite genre, but only played about 2 of the songs on the list. Again it was someone going through there Ipod and listing the songs they like, and not thinking if anyone would dance to them.
As it turned out, everyone had a great night without the R&B.

I always tell clients that a playlist is just to give me an idea of the type of music they like, and maybe a couple of songs they deffinetly want played.

I have also done a Ceroc Dance party, where the birthday boy had hired some "professional" dance instructors for the evening. The client gave me a playlist and said that I must stick to it, and not even take requests. I could only assume that he had had some experience of a bad dj in the past, and didn't want to take any chances.

I think once your party gets started your natural dj instincts will take over and everything will be fine.

Yes so do we but you always get the odd one that thinks they know better, I emailed the girl yesterday pointing out that there were too many songs for the time and she said Sorry but she did not realise and has given me a free reign now.

Yes I had thought of that and I think in my own mind I had decided against letting her plug her Ipod in.

Apparently the theme for the night is a glow party as well. Will advise you guys how it goes.
