all depends on what you want to do really.
laser world arnt great and rgy lasers look awful no matter what make

I'm currently using 300mw green 20kpps with 40 degree spread. It has stand alone capability which is how I use it (sound activated). I figured that a natural upgrade would be to add a bit of colour and increase the spread to 60 degrees keeping the plug and play aspect. Hence my choice. If i can go RGB for the same sort of price then that would be favourite but looking at them I can't quite go there yet.
I'm not interested in creating graphics, just want to use into audience with strobe at certain points to create that "rave" look.

well with laser world it really is a pay your money and take your chances - i have had to deal several and they have all be naff. If you dont use it alot or expect alot from it then it may well suit your needs but i wouldnt advertise either as a club spec laser system!

That would depend on the club!

So you can't suggest an alternative stand alone multicolour unit with that minimum output and spread in a comparable price range?

not really - laserworld are the cheapest out there and will more than likely be fine for what you want to do byt they are the prosound of the laser world.

red and green and a horrid yellow - not the best colours to produce a dramatic show.
They arn't vivid and they dont work all that great together unless in a trafic light situation!

Mostly person preference to be honest but i am yet to see a professional RGY laser - they just do get used in the pro world.

There are cheaper unit out there if you look hard enough.
A lot of it depends on scanning speed and the power of the lasers themselves

Thats a bit harsh Chris,laserworld i agree are not top end pro lasers but are not the prosound of the laser world and there is a lot worst out there.
The one mentioned would be quite suitable for a mobile disco.
When have prosound made anything costing thousands of pounds.

Although they don't make it, I'm sure the directors car would be worth a couple of thousand pounds due to us lot buying there cheap stuff :D

Which is why I chose this option. The Laserworld 300mw green I've been using has been absolutely fine. No probs at all.
Doesn't look like anyone here has one for sale though so looks like I'm buying new. Would like to find a retailer who'll do it monthly payments over 12 months if I can.

Dont get your point??? the laser in that pic is a custom buil 3w white light laser not an rgy and is built to a very high spec for indoor shows for upto a couple of hundred people.

That there are but people seem to believe that laserworld are a "pro' brand - they are not really used at all in grown up laser - world (no pun intended)
Its nto all about scanning and the power of the laser by any means.
There are many factors to consider when choosing a tool for any job!

Im not dismissing it for your use i have already said it might be ok for what you want to use it for but what i have hinted at is that why not save up a little more and get a white rgb model which would look alot better and give crisper colours - after all you have said your trying to get a wow factor and nothing else.
